Did they take that comet as a sign from God - an omen? A comet quite visible during the day time.... Here is an archived newspaper about it from 1850.... [link to adsabs.harvard.edu] What were they thinking back then before internet and electricity over such a rare celestial event...?

Pre internet, pre t.v. and our "understanding of the cosmos". How can any of us pretend to know how anyone would feel about an amazing cosmic event tha precedes internet and technology.
