Is it worth trying on patients? Yes. Is it confirmed? No. Confirmation as a cure requires corroborating studies and much more statistical evidence. This isn’t exactly new information. doctors in HK Found this well over a month ago. According to them, the drug helps with the symptoms (getting off ventilator) but it is not a “cure.” The drug is one I take every day. It is commonly prescribed for lupus. The only problem though is going to be getting this drug. It is my understanding that it like practically everything else, it comes directly from China or the ingredients are supplied by China. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77544685 United States 03/19/2020 09:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | N = 36 Quoting: RTS20 p < 0.0001 "Six hydroxychloroquine-treated patients were lost in follow-up during the survey because of early cessation of treatment." "None of the control patients was lost in follow-up." "one of the patients under hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination who tested negative at day6 post-inclusion was tested positive at low titer at day8 post-inclusion." Not 100%. 25% complication rate. Also that p value is ridiculously high (bad) for biological sciences. Low sigma. Be wary of any asshole like this guy. No one is saying this is an answer. But this is extremely promising and has all sorts of preliminary data to support it as well. What should occur is a huge public outcry to run a confirmatory widespread study. The study design is such that it could be completed in 1-2 weeks. |

Statistical evidence is coming from China and South Korea. They are claiming that it is very promising with patients recovering... Yes more studies need to be done. Not easy to mass produce here if we don’t have the ingredients and we can’t get them outside of China. That’s what nobody’s answered so far is this a drug that we can actually make? Because we don’t make shit. |

Quoting: Deplorable QuantumLove How is it a game changer? These things take months and months of trials and testing before they can be approved and produced, and that's if they cut corners and fast-track it. Usually it's a year or two. Are you going to then take malaria medicine the rest of your life? That might come with it's own health risks. These drugs are not experimental. They have been in wide use for many years. They are already approved, therefore they can be fast tracked. The malaria medicine is only used like an antibiotic regime. Ten to 14 days is a typical regiment... |

It can damage it and cause long-term and irreversible problems esp in older patients (the ones that Corona also targets the most). FCK the WEF! Keep your hands off my country! |

They've both been going around the internet for about a week now. Why are markets still crashing? Because it's BS Not BS... People are panicking in the markets. All they look at is the death rate. Once we start using the many ways of attacking the CoVid-19 and the death rate decreases, then there will be less panic and the markets will increase... The US still has to go through a 2 week or more shutdown for things to get better... |

When faced with imminent collapse of healthcare systems due to overwhelming numbers needing resource-intensive care in ICU's, maybe a sane approach would be to administer that drug to all who reach that level of severity. If if the drug has complications in some % of cases, a high number of those people are going to DIE if care collapses, and about 25% or more are going to die even if they get care. |
