It's a virus not a bacterial infection. Bacterial infections have cures. Viruses have no cures and you manage the symptoms of the virus and hope your body fights it off. With viruses drugs are simply aids, not cures.

Getting back to the topic, can somebody explain why the media isn't talking about this?

During his briefing today. Trump said chloroquine had been approved and could be given to patients with a prescription.

Minutes later, FDA Commissioner Hahn, said use of the drug would be in a clinical trial to find out whether it works, and if so what dose would safe and effective, but it is not yet approved for use, with or without a prescription.

They need to do a proper controlled large scale trial. Not some sloppy 10 day trial with 24 patients. You cant just blindly roll it out to the masses. Several research teams across the globe have begun these 'proper' trials as we speak.
