As you know, its only been 100 years since the world realized there was more than our galaxy much less whats out there.

Density, core, material, orbit. What if this thing carries sulfates or other particularity harmful natural components unhealthy to us into our path?

Or it could just be a flying ice rock like like you say. But still, it kinda fits the profile of the times so far.

The minimum orbit intersect distance is greater than half the distance to the sun, to say nothing of the tenuous nature of its coma. But do go on...
