A Stress WE ARE UNUSED TO
It's a different kind of stress these days, in the sense that, it's probably more than likely that NONE of us were around during WWII or any of the huge Influenza Pandemics from a hundred years ago or Bubonic plague. We are in new territory here. Our society doesn't know how to cope, althewhile many of us on here DO know how, by SURVIVING.

That is what many of us are intent on doing.

I live in a town with less than 40,000 people. I went to the Walmart today to buy basics. They had milk, they had NO EGGS, WHATSOEVER! No chicken, barely a few steaks - NOT AT ALL WHAT WE ARE USED TO SEEING! WTF??? ALL the shelves in the pasta aisle were empty, just a few straggling boxes, here and there.

Have you ever seen an ENTIRE STORE WIDE AISLE COMPLETELY EMPTY? I did, today! The toilet paper aisle!!! I thought the media was joking. It was so surreal. It was beyond surreal.

This is our new real.

I'm thankful I live in a rural area where we have large yards and beautiful scenery. I would go nuts if I had to live in a small apartment for months, seeing nothing for the 4 walls around me. Shudder. It is nice to catch up on sleep, but how much sleep does a person need?

My family in London are saying the same. Not quite as bad over here.

But I'm sure there are plenty of packets of quinoa and soy milk shite.

PTSD. Get ready for it.

In any disaster or loss there is grief and it follows a distinct pattern. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Allow loved ones to go through the steps at their pace. If we get stuck in grief it can be deadly.

What is the hive mentality now?

The grocery store had 100 people in line before it opened at 6am. I went out bc it reminded me of hurricane Katrina, darkest morning was the safest.

Then a crowd of homeless men descended upon my car, I am pretty sure society is gonna go predatory, pretty soon.

Look for the suicide rate to increase as with crazy behavior. People are in shock, I always figured it would be a nuke strike nocked us back into the stone age not a pandemic. Even intelligent people I know can grasp the basic concepts of contamination/infection control.

Said "lickdowns" usually have a relaxing and stress free effect. I'm no doctor, but I highly recommend this technique for everyone.

Interestingly enough, I have PTSD, (veteran and retired LEO)
and mine has gone into "remission" so to speak.

I've been more clear headed in the last month and a half than I have in the last decade as my old training has kicked in!

Of course, being fairly well prepped; in most phases, helps alleviate stress related tensions.

However my kids are pretty well freaked out; as I imagine many of the younger generation (those raised properly) are also.

To the parents of the irresponsible fucks "chillaxing" on spring break, you best get your offspring under control and smarten them up. Like I used to tell the youth I interacted with in my LE days, "you're invincible right up to the point your not! and then, you or a loved one are dead!"

Make sure that you get out and exercise, walk, job, yoga whatever. They all help relieve stress.

Careful with the booze and drugs, you need a clear head and to set a good example to those around you.

Learn to recognize the signs and symptoms.

I still treat with two mental health care professionals. Both them are also borderline freaked out AND both of them, knowing my experience and past very well, have actually asked me for ideas on how to "crash prep" as the events are unfolding. One of these individuals is likely to be of no help to her patients, as she is not responding well to the worsening situation. Unprecedented!

All of us are experiencing stress at some level in these very trying times.

Look after yourselves, look after each other and help those near you who are unable or too old or paralyzed by fear to help themselves.

stay safe. keep your wits. god bless.
