We can do without a lot of things, but food is not one of them. If our domestic production cannot support our own population, then we will slide off a slippery slope in about 1 month. Now is the time to hustle. This cannot be fixed later with duct tape.

Grain contract bids are up a little for the coming year but

apparently not by much.

I think so too. I think for some things we are the lead producers (apples? potatoes?) but for many other basic foods we are not. Plus food products made from crops may be offshored so something like corn is only useful as corn.

If we are able to feed everyone, that is 75% of the battle. I think many would calm down if they weren't speculating on food shortages.

There will be no more vegan agenda pushed on any plane of existence, from now on plants will stay in the consciousness of 2D.

While local, state, and federal leaders should be looking into this...they probably are not. It is an election year...maybe, and they are more worried about being re-elected.

I strongly suggest that if you are in a position to plant food, start getting your shit together so you can.

You cannot ponder this and then decide to do it in July unless you're good with only eating lettuce and radishes.

I figure the more people that do this, the less effort I have to spend defending my stuff later on.

Yes, on a individual family level that makes much more sense. Animal farming for a family would take too much in resources and may fail due to lack of food, water, and protection for animals.

The USA exports about half of what we grow. I think we will do OK for now, but I sure feel sorry for people depending on our imports.

I can't get a response from fucking anybody about encouraging victory gardens and all that again. As it is now, if I do that, they take my fucking house. American farming better restart ASAP. This is actually a national security issue. We can no longer rely on China or *countries that support China* as they have made clear they are our enemy.

It’s a great time to go vegan. Quit your reliance on dead animals for sustenance. Fruits, veggies, quinoa/grains, nuts/seeds, popcorn, plant based milks, etc. At least for the rest of the year.

I don't think getting the crops planted is going to be as big an issue as getting them to processors to produce the finished product. I mean, you can raise the chickens and get them to the plant, but who is going to cut them up and package them? Who is going to make that corn into corn flakes and Doritos? Who is going to make the soybeans into soy milk and veggie burgers and who is going to grind the wheat and make it into bread?

vegan if you want to starve. Meat is vegan once removed, we raise the meat on plant growth that humans cannot digest. Rabbits, if you live in an apartment w/ a balcony you can raise them.

I disagree. It doesn't take much room to keep homestead animals. For a family of 4 a trio of rabbits, a dairy goat and 6 chickens and can be fed your lawn clippings if you get a bag for your mower. What they don't eat fresh can be bagged into trash bags and left in the sun to make silage for winter food. Just don't use pesticides on your lawn. Maybe my views are biased living in the sticks. The average residential yard in town here is probably 1/8-1/4 acre. Plenty of room for a small coop, a rabbit hutch and a pen with doghouse for the goat, with room for a veggie garden and lawn to mow.

It takes two three million ( for the equipment) to do more than 1000 acres but if can be done with 3-5 people .

Crops don't grow overnight even some of you retard fucks think crops just appears at the supermarket from a magic green giant.

Trump ruined the farm exports. Corn is so low now $3.24 a bu. it does not even pay to plant, but we will cause that's what farmers do. That 2cents a bu, we got in subsidy paid for alittle over 1 bag of seed corn, we used 120 bags ,then you have lime, fertilizers,fuel,seed treatments, harvesting,drying ,storage charges,and transporting. A friends answer to folks who think farmers have an easy time is, go buy one, have at it.with land at 3500 to 4000 an acre you would not even make the land and interest payment.
