Older people like me are generally closer to that point than younger people.

Just isolate and quarantine the 65+ crowd and let everyone else go to work and live.

Everybody lives if we isolate/shelter in place only the older people and those that are health compromised. Could even be on a voluntary basis. Take care of all the needs of those that choose to shelter at home if they are old or have current health issues. That simple. The rest of the population continues normal life.

Same here. I'm 67, and this hoax could get many of us killed from social upheaval. I've made my peace, ready to check out if that's in the cards. But I would just as soon die than have the whole country and innocent people die because of this bullshit. Everyone focuses on the old dying. All ages go to the hospital in critical care and many take WEEKS to recover. We still have NO IDEA if there are long term leftover damages.

You won’t be laughing when it’s your family and there’s no room in the hospitals within 100s of miles.

Um, they are not trying to stop it but don't let the facts get in your way. The are trying to FLATTEN THE CURVE so that everyone does not die within a very short period of time.

The CV risk to anyone up to the age of 60-70 or so is extremely small. No worse than a cold for most. Many don't even know they have it at all. To shut the country down is massively destructive. All of us including older people will be greatly harmed by a state or countrywide shutdown. The CV appears to be so contagious that it cannot be stopped so why pretend that you can stop it at the expense of collapsing the country financially. Guessing many more people of all ages will die or be destitute as the economy is intentionally destroyed for years into the future perhaps. Would be far better to have only older people and health compromised people stay home til the proper medicine is sorted out.
