You are comparing the end point of previous events to where we stand now in the current pandemic, which is just the beginning. There are plenty of charts available comparing covid to sars and h1n1. Covid 19 has made both of these diseases look like nothing.

I am in Colorado and the concern would be in any state not being shut down that people start moving to it. This brings in issues. Hard to say how things break.

I am not sure states can get away with locking down just their cities, but think of the States with the most ghetto-fied people and places.

NYC, LA (sing it, Compton, Watts and South Central), Detroit, Gary, NOLA, St Louis, Philly, etc. These places will have ready and willing looters, and damn sure need a lock down. Ab-so-fucking-LOOT-ly lock these places down.

South Dakota? Wyoming? Alaska? Idaho? I cannot even name their ghetto cities assuming they even have them. Those states are less likely to be subject to looting, which is ultimately going to be the reason for National Guard type lock down.

It makes sense. With Ca, Illinois and NY shutting down, you get a large part of the population. This means the rest of the states may not have to in order to flatten the spread curve.

State by state is the worst method. Instead of shutting it all down and having several hot spots to deal with, state by state allows every state to become a hot spot. It’s like, they want this to happen.
