All necessary workers will not be interrupted. And if some get sick others will pick up the slack. The economy on the other hand will suffer. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78173891 call us stupid. sure, but then tell me what happens when only one of the people in a factory test positive and they need to quarantine the whole factory? multiply that be a few factories. yeah, we're stupid You quarantine all the workers and replace them with new ones. I'm glad your not in charge of anything. Dumb ass Listen shit for brains, you are in no position to call anyone a dumb ass. That is the stupidest thing I have read on here today, and that's saying a lot.If it gets so bad that you quarantine a whole factory, people will be at home. They will not go in a factory that is contaminated. You truly are a fucking moron. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78665041 Ran into a friend at the store this morning, their cart was stocked. She said all they are doing is eating, lol. i guess building up some reserve might not be a bad idea. Plant a garden, raise some chickens (layers and broilers), find a farmer you can get some freezer beef, bet a HUGE feezer, generator and some fuel just incase the power goes out. |

Imported stuff will be the concern and of course hoarding will lead to some shortages in the stores. The processors are already wrestling with how much to ramp up- they are more afraid of boom/bust once everyone has so much they won't spend as much and demand falls off a cliff. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75615507 Man you are way off. Whit the crops lost last year due to flooding we dont have any reserves of grain. There will be a huge problem if this happens again. Its been raining a ton here ground has been completely saturated here. Not only that we are entering a grand solar minimum and yields will be big time. Gas will be a quarter a gallon but a loaf of bread going to be 50 bucks. I have been worried about this too. ...and don't forget the early winter of 2019 wiped out those who attempted a late crop after the floods. China lost their fowl and swine to disease. Freaking Locust Plague just plowed thru Africa, Pakistan, India and into the belly of the beast, last I heard. I am wondering. Does "food is on the way, no problem" remind anyone else of "We will be testing millions of people, next week" Yes. I'm thinking food is going to be a big problem. Pragmatist |

The U.S. has a shitload of drug addicts who are going to start acting nuts when they lose access to prescriptions. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77910080 yes - food is the least of our worries - the stuff we need but don't make here will be the bigger issues What do we need during emergencies that isn't made here? |

He says theres been no shortage but he is limiting food like meats and such. One pack of chicken, one pack of hamburger, one pack of steaks, ham, hot dogs, etc.. He says people fuss and such but he tells them no. You're going to have to think of other people and their families, too. He's got 4,000 people a day coming in and out of that store.Hes got yo have enough for everyone, so he's limiting everything. I dont blame him. Its only right to limit people to 1 of certain items. |

Food just needs to be processed and packaged and shipped and stocked in stores.....it's not that we're almost OUT of food. Anyone with any level of IQ should have long since been ready and prepared. No excuses. What really matters is how long are idiots willing to tolerate a lock down over a supposed illness that is not killing anyone (besides what the TV tells your stupid ass and you believe) and when will you defy those orders? America has yet to decide what direction it will be going towards...... Total martial law or letting the free market handle it self. The free market easily has the ability to handle this. But most people are = being sold on the lock down.... not everyone, there are alot of judges not enforcing orders. The problem is some jails are also releasing inmates as well.... In-fact the only way to handle this is independence of the mainstream medical community. This will either be a delay of the New Order and push back to later dates. Or its game on right now.... we still have not encountered the mass infection stage. The problem is people are not being told about natural alternatives to treat this.... Iodine in your lungs will wipe almost any lung virus / bacteria out in a very short amount of time. This is not in the days of world war 2 , where people grew victory gardens and kept going on with everyday life. We have too many cowards in this country now.... the best way we can handle this is to ABSORB IT. Not lock down...... work on your own health because the virus is not avoidable it looks like. I have been working on a document that needs to get sticky on this site for everyone's health and well being. |

User ID: 76010295 United States 03/22/2020 01:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think there is plenty of food. The problem is some people are not letting it get delivered. I heard someone say their walmart is loaded with toilet paper & other stuff but they were told not to stock the shelves. Quoting: Half Past Midnight Ok... so help me with this. Let’s say a canner produces 100,000 cans of green beans one day, 100,000 cans of corn the next,... 5 different types of fan vegetables a week for 500,000 cans a week. They have 3 months stock between their warehouses and the wholesalers and distributors and stores. 6,000,000 cans in the supply line. Then corona hits... in a matter of weeks all their stock in the pipeline is sold and demand is still twice what they can produce. This would seem to make sense given that the stores are unable to restock can goods quickly. Reasonable? So they need to increase production to at least 1 million cans a week just to meet demand... forget about the pipeline. Do you have enough commodities - green beans, kidney beans, corn, etc.. No.. not in February. You have to find some on the open market out of South America or god knows where. Those farms are unlikely to have excess produce. Besides, their country may be having runs on food too. Where am I wrong... seriously. How can these canneries catch up on production until the crops start coming in later this year? Same goes for cattle. They are not created by a vending machine.. they have to be birthed and raised and fattened up. Chickens - quicker growth period bust still in months. I am not buying into the argument that there is plenty of food on the way.. I don’t think they have it. At the very least - prices goin’ way up. Have a nice day = GFY. GFY = Go Fuck Yourself. If this offends you then have a nice day. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15101811 He wasn’t spooked before. Now he is. Here's the problem. Supply chain. One person, with the aid of machinery does what dozens used to. The tractor stops, so does everything else. That one farmer falls ill, there's hardly anyone with the requisite knowledge anymore. My family have farmer for generations, but things have changed so much in the industry, the old timers would be out of their depth. In the recent past, many people had back gardens. Most grew food, especially during ww2. Now? Are we all ready to go back to an agrarian lifestyle? Not many probably, that's why there are so many migrant workers in the industry. They are going to be your new masters because of their knowledge, if it all does go tango uniform. Download a gardening book while you can! Keep safe and healthy everyone. |

Food drives will be effortless, as people get rid of the all the spam, beans, mash potatoes, canned (yukkie) vegetables, and macaroni they spent too much money one stacked under their beds and in their garages. Churches will be drowning in donations of TP and paper towels too and diaper products people bought for their kids that out grew them too quickly for their stash. |
