everybody with the usa is the bread basket, yeah.

but machinery breaking down is normal, need parts, need someone to do the repairs, many farmers have hired seasonal help, with lots of truck and big equipment. what about gas, it goes on and on. Not to mention all the irrigation that gets runs, repairs. one small part of this could end your idea of a bread basket waiting for you at the store.

I am from a farming family, the are acting like business as usual, but I don't think they understand.

Depends on location and local food growing, the us's going to have food shortages in some places, and none in others depending on if truckers can actually ship the food or not.

Farmers are likely to work their lands even during a pandemic, but will that food get to people is another question.

it's not only supply, production is running almost normal. Some stuff from China not coming in, so small gaps in supply but enough to feed upon. No worries.

Its not going to last.
If we can break the reinfection cycle it goes away.

Govt. not serious yet but when they shut shit down for two weeks it will get better.
Don't stress out, not the end. :)

Don't be silly

2 weeks lock down will do little to nothing and deaths will continue to jump upwards due to the incubation period and the kill ration will also increase because new cases won't get the use of ventilators.

Thing is here that everyone in jobs can claim to be "essential works" including the pen pushers working for the council because the definition of the term is so wide so it's only half a lock down when it comes.

You also don't get that this virus is being used as a cover story for a financial collapse that was coming anyway because share prices were not related in anyway to profits and were just over priced gambling chips and bailouts just flooded the casino with more money, nothing for main street.

Humans can easily fast for a month at a time and stay relatively healthy.

Most won't even worry about missing a single meal even through all this.

Worst case, intermittent fast?

A bag of beans and rice can last you years.

Those of us that prepared have already fulled our stores already so you need to take us so called "Panic Buyers" out of that equation.

Stocked up from Tesco when "buy one get one free" still existed and always managed to stay ahead of the curve.

Coffey is worth grabbing whilst you still can because it will be good for trading as will the stuff you smoke in both forms.

I think the initial rush is probably over. Within a couple of weeks, the shelves will be stocked much as they were. Those who stocked up won't be buying much for the next month or so. Stock on the shelves will catch up fast.

Head of CDC Switzerland daniel koch that is on live TV every 2nd day is a fracking liar.

I read energies and he's a liar. Their main focus is not to create panic under any circumstance.

The other day he said something like "the virus is natural, not manmade, not artifically created, a natural occurrence.
That alone should scare the crap out of everyone...

they just shut down the whole economy and that jerk has the nervs to say its kind of a standard flu.

Swiss like any other secret gov. services know darn well that this is a bioweappon anything like the natural seasonal flu. And that what I read in his lying face.

These are the same people who tell you not to stock up on food and that are (never mind the close of borders) keep on importing corona infected migrants that are going to live on social welfare forever while smal business owners are freaking out over the shutdown...

My farmer friend says delivery of diesel for his farm equipment (10000 litres) has gone from 1-2 days to 10-12 days already.

He wasn’t spooked before. Now he is.

Thanks for sharing this. I think the best evidence and reports we can get right now are from our local farmers. Just like this report. If farmers are having issues with diesel, livestock feed or other essentials this is a good indication of where we may be headed.

For once I feel lucky that I live in California/North Bay.
There are over 20 grocery stores within 10 miles of me and all of them are being re-stocked in a timely fashion. Not to mention that I have a farmer's market within walking distance twice a week with amazing tree ripe fruit, fresh recently picked veggies, A2A2 milk(the worlds' finest dairy}, nuts, figs, oils, baked goods, eggs and every variety of grass-fed meats like lamb, beef, pork, chicken, etc. and these farmers make almost 100% of their living off these markets, so they are coming whether you like it or not, for me and my neighbors, thankfully, in the short run, food is not the biggest concern.

Its basic instinct.

Animals do it too.

When doom comes the best place to have extra energy stored is on your body itself.

But you seriously need to excercise to stay toned and fit under the layer of fat.

Burn at LEAST 1000 calories a day.

But eat 2000 calories.

You stay fit..and get a good layer of insulating fat to keep you fed and warm when winter comes.

And KEEP IN MIND...the coronadoom will be PEAKING right about the start of next winter.

And THATS when things will get SERIOUSLY DOOMY.

Ice preserves virus...it will blow around in snowstorms...be whipped up into the atmosphere...

Sne spread EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE.

And it will STAY ALIVE FOR MONTHS...

AND DOOM WILL FALL.

AND SEVER...TOTALLY FUCKING SEVERE BEYOND YOUR WILDEST DREAMS OF DOOM...

>>>>>>FAMINE <<<<<<<<

LOOOOONG DOOMY FAMINE.

NO FOOD...

NO FUEL...

NO HOPE.

Except.what you have stored on your body.

So PIG THE FUCK OUT NOW WHILE YOU CAN.

AND MAY VERY WELL PROBABLY BE THE LAST THING YOU EVER GET TO ENJOY.

SO GET EATING.

MUNCH THE FUCK DOWN!!!

Re: if this continues, how long will the food supply really last?
The USA produces so much food and can actually produce a lot more than it does. Imported stuff will be the concern and of course hoarding will lead to some shortages in the stores. The processors are already wrestling with how much to ramp up- they are more afraid of boom/bust once everyone has so much they won't spend as much and demand falls off a cliff.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75615507

Man you are way off. Whit the crops lost last year due to flooding we dont have any reserves of grain. There will be a huge problem if this happens again. Its been raining a ton here ground has been completely saturated here. Not only that we are entering a grand solar minimum and yields will be big time. Gas will be a quarter a gallon but a loaf of bread going to be 50 bucks.

Re: if this continues, how long will the food supply really last?
I think there is plenty of food. The problem is some people are not letting it get delivered. I heard someone say their walmart is loaded with toilet paper & other stuff but they were told not to stock the shelves.
 Quoting: Half Past Midnight

Ok... so help me with this. Let’s say a canner produces 100,000 cans of green beans one day, 100,000 cans of corn the next,... 5 different types of fan vegetables a week for 500,000 cans a week.

They have 3 months stock between their warehouses and the wholesalers and distributors and stores. 6,000,000 cans in the supply line.

Then corona hits... in a matter of weeks all their stock in the pipeline is sold and demand is still twice what they can produce. This would seem to make sense given that the stores are unable to restock can goods quickly.

Reasonable?

So they need to increase production to at least 1 million cans a week just to meet demand... forget about the pipeline.

Do you have enough commodities - green beans, kidney beans, corn, etc..

No.. not in February. You have to find some on the open market out of South America or god knows where. Those farms are unlikely to have excess produce. Besides, their country may be having runs on food too.

Where am I wrong... seriously. How can these canneries catch up on production until the crops start coming in later this year?

Same goes for cattle. They are not created by a vending machine.. they have to be birthed and raised and fattened up.

Chickens - quicker growth period bust still in months.

I am not buying into the argument that there is plenty of food on the way.. I don’t think they have it. At the very least - prices goin’ way up.
