Re: Why hasn't the UK been locked down yet?
People are already going nuts where I am... using violence on people to get bags of groceries off them as soon as they bring them out of their cars...

Gosh! I knew there'd only be a matter of time before these things started happening... plus, most grocery stores are completely out of stock on most essential items because of the panic buyers... some in my town are closed until further notice...

I couldn't even find a gas station near me open or within a couple of miles from me...

I'm guessing they will declare lockdown on the country soon... it already looks like it is in lockdown in some areas up and down the UK...

Yobos are out of school too with nothing else to do but harass people and cause trouble...

Can you say what area you are in? I'm in a small town in Cheshire and it's not been too bad here >YET<

I'm not stating direct location but I'm in the northeast area... a town/city which once used to be a quiet and peaceful area until this...

Yep... I'm isolating myself and my son... we aren't going out anywhere with that going on...

I'm actually really surprised no where else in the UK has gone wild like this yet...

Sheesh! Maybe I should have stayed where I was in county Durham...

I heard there's no one rioting there...

Stay Safe everyone!

Look at the maths.

Say the UK population is 66,000,000

Current confirmed cases in UK today stand at 5,748

Not all these cases need treatment, most are told to self isolate and recover.

5,748 people is 0.01% of our population, if only 1% (i.e. 574 people) of that number require ICU beds and specialist care (usually for a minimum of 12 days) then that's a lot of extra ICU (remember accidents and illness is still occurring as well)

So to extrapolate, if the number of infected were to increase to say 1% of our population (at the same time, this is the important part, coping with the numbers) the figures become more than critical.

If 1% of population infected = 660,000

If only 1% of that number required critical care the beds required would be 6600

The system wouldn't cope, this is why they NEED to level the curve in the spike.

There is also a disparity in where the ICU beds are located throughout the country.

We can also say that accidents and illnesses will reduce greatly due to people been now stuck in their basement and bedrooms due to self-isolation and social-distancing. Further, the road traffic is almost non-existent so there won't be many accidents coming from roads either.

The numbers we are dealing with do not warrant the draconian measures been taken. Far more people die from flu each year and we do not grind the country to a halt.

Something doesn't smell right here and those people who still have free-thinking capabilities can see that. And no amount of insults and aggression can change that.

Certainly road traffic accidents should reduce if there's less traffic but not sure why you think SERIOUS (requiring hospital treatment) illness should decline.

Re the veracity of the virus and the draconian measures what do you think is going on and how would you deal with it?

If Boris is still saying don't go within 2 metres within each other, then why the fuck are they STILL telling non-essential workers to carry on working, when there's no way you can stay more than two metres away!

The boss held a meeting yesterday, and said one nameless member of staff said they'd work for free if it was needed, and he said that if anybody else wanted to do the same, that would be very nice! No thank you or anything, just that would be nice!

He said they were not closing, as they had a big £80,000 order to get done! He basically said that money was more important than people! He talked about redundancies as well, so he is only thinking about wages down the road! Unbelievable!

I still think something is going on behind the scenes, though...

The UK government has said that they will start clamping down on the people if they don't stop gathering and start 'social distancing'.

What a load of bollocks. If people are being told to still go to work, except for poxy office staff, then how the fuck can we stop mingling?

You have no choice on the work floor about coming into contact with others, but for some reason, office staff are more at risk??

That dickhead Johnson is STILL telling people in factory jobs, etc., to go to work! You can't practice social-distancing on the shop floor! My boss is going mad, saying we must still come to work! Some of the blokes are ready for a revolt, because they're thinking he's potentially putting lives in danger.

Boris will get turned on as well, as he is deliberately not making it clear who can work, and who can't. On his own head be it...
