Just found out our nephew who is an EMT in MS was exposed last night….

94 New Orleans EMS employees exposed to COVID-19 patients; awaiting test results

[link to www.msn.com (secure)]

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - “We’ve had 94 of our employees with known exposures with Covid-19 patients. Fortunately for us, about 75 percent of those employees were wearing the appropriate levels of person protective equipment while they were caring for those patients” says Emily Nichols, M.D.

According to CDC guidelines for healthcare providers, if they aren’t showing symptoms, they can continue to work as long as they wear a mask and monitor their fever.

That’s exactly what the majority of those exposed EMS workers are doing. In the meantime, the Director of New Orleans EMS, Dr. Emily Nichols says 28 employees are showing symptoms and are right now quarantined at home.
“With the Department of Health, we’ve been able to get them tested, but we don’t have many of those tests back still that’s something that’s troublesome. The turn around time that it takes for us to know if the employee tested positive or not,” says Dr. Nichols.

City’s street homeless being moved into hotel

[link to www.msn.com (secure)]

City and state officials worked to finalize plans Wednesday to move homeless people off the streets and fill a 155-room hotel in the Central Business District.

The general manager of that hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn-New Orleans French Quarter Downtown on Gravier Street, confirmed the plan was to start moving people in groups of 35 from encampments and house and feed them for the next 30 days, using a mixture of federal, state, local and philanthropic funds.

“We have transitioned our hotel into an intake facility,” said hotel general manager Adam Turni told WWL-TV in an exclusive interview. “We have painter’s tape to designate 6 feet indicators so everybody can keep proper spacing. We're only allowing one individual to use our elevator at a time, we're only allowing so many persons on each floor at a time.”

The hotel is prepared to serve the guests three meals a day, clean their rooms daily and provide laundry service under the deal. He said the National Guard would deliver equipment and other supplies and police would help with security in every floor and at all exits to make sure the homeless guests remain isolated the whole time.

Nice hotel, stayed there many times and paid anywhere from $120- 160 per night. I won’t be surprised when the homeless shit on the walls and burn it down.

The test results seem to be taking a long time to come back here in New Orleans. My friend's dad (88 years old but healthy otherwise) was admitted to a New Orleans Hospital with mild seizures. While there he developed a fever and fluid on his lungs so he was transferred to a COVID-19 unit. 6 days later and there is still no results on his COVID-19 test but he is much more likely to get it being in that unit. It is sad and frustrating.

NYC is at 1 death every 20 minutes.

That means Louisiana 'official' infections count is lies.

Completely out of control then in LA.

In China, they figured they were off by a factor of 7 actual infections compared to confirmed infections.

Most large American cities will discover the same thing the hard way.

This was posted on the wall of a Facebook friend today. I hope they don't mind me posting here, just trying to help those who are still not taking it seriously:

"I work for a large hospital system in Louisiana. Usually I transcribe strictly operative reports, as that is my specialty, but as elective surgeries have been cancelled I've been transcribing admission history and physicals to help keep up with the influx of patients. Almost every report I have transcribed today has been for a patient with COVID-19. Most are elderly, but there have been some who are younger and some who have other underlying health issues. This is NO JOKE! These patients are in bad shape and are decompensating quickly. Please...for the vulnerable...STAY THE EFF HOME IF YOU CAN!! I'm not exaggerating. I've been doing this job for 20 years and have seen trends come and go. I can tell you that the cases are starting to come in faster now and there is a very real danger of the hospital system being overwhelmed. This is NOT just another cold or flu. Please take the warnings very seriously. Please stay safe and take care, all of you!"

These people are dying in spite of the entire machinery of government and mankind being focused solely on keeping them alive, it is a novel virus (the flu is not a novel virus, although it was at one point/1918), and it is extremely labor intensive, people are also fighting for 30-50 days, we don't know a damn thing about the virus so I don't know where you get this information from. I have noticed a common thread with you guys (that deny the virus) you all either sound soulless, or your sentence structure is jacked up as if you were native in another language and using a foreign IP address to make it appear as if you are in the United States.

In Louisiana, death comes before coronavirus test results

[link to news.yahoo.com (secure)]

Social worker Natasha Ott was feeling ill but declined a COVID-19 test earlier this month because her clinic, Crescent Care — which serves the HIV-positive community — only had five, and she wanted to save them for patients.

"They don't think I need to get tested unless I develop a fever," the 39-year-old texted her boyfriend, Josh Anderson. "All looks well."

Ott, a Claremont native who moved to New Orleans five years ago, was finally tested a week later, on March 16. She was told she would have to wait for the results. Anderson offered to bring her pho, but she said she didn't have an appetite. She was tired, and asked him to walk her dog, Zola.

Two days later, she texted: "I just don't understand why I don't feel much better yet." Two days after that, Anderson found her collapsed in her kitchen, dead.

“She died on the day she was supposed to get the results,” said family friend Carol Coalson, of San Diego, Ott's foster mother, who had just visited her last month to celebrate Mardi Gras.
