Serious question about working in a quarantine state
I live in MI. We are on lockdown as of midnight. My work is considered one of the “critical” jobs because we work with government contractors. They want me to work but people at my work don’t take this virus seriously. We have no antibacterial soap, no sanitizer, no disinfectant cleaning supplies. People walk around pretending to couch and touch everyone’s stuff. The boss tells people he’s not worried about the virus and just took a flight to FL over the weekend. What do you do to ensure your safety in a place like this? Other employees get together and laugh about people who are actually taking this seriously.

I don't fear the virus I do fear what the government will do too you if you act like a fool. Tell them stories about people being charged with felonies for coughing and touching items.

I doubt that will work. I should be sleeping now but I have been awake all night terrified.

I know I’m up at 3am... I could really use some advice. I’m freaking out.

Hey...In cases like this I would follow your "gut."
Former Mich resident myself...I understand your "dark hour
of soul-searching" in addressing your situation. I had this
same personal crisis myself and the sacrifice making a
move to "save myself" was steep--but in the end I am grateful
that I left. Professional job, friends, family, all my
stuff...walked away.

Being that you are having insomnia over this tells me that
your "brian" is keeping you alert to be able to figure out
a solution to this situation with your "sleeping" co-workers
and bosses.

If you truly believe your job is putting your life needlessly
in danger...you need to think about getting another position.
Hell...just go to the food service industry until you can
find a job in your own field. Do what you need to do but
I wouldn't ignore your "gut."

Good luck. Really sad for you that you are having to deal
with this--but with all the disinfo and the political
bickering this has become the American public really is NOT
clear on what is going on.

cheers

Thank you. I have anxiety issues as it is. I’m always freaking out about stuff but I feel like is something big. A lot of people aren’t taking it seriously but really should. The idea of having a job through this is great! Especially since we will most likely be going through a recession after this is over. I just wish they would take it seriously.
