Anonymous Coward User ID: 74857206 United States 03/24/2020 01:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | New County Judge Lina Hidalgo issues order as Mayor looks on. Residents to stay in homes. Businesses who do not comply, and people violating the order and putting others at a health risk, could be hit with a fine and up to 180 days in jail, Hidalgo said. Quoting: We Who Watch. [link to www.houstonpublicmedia.org (secure)] A judge does not have this authority. If she is backing up an order from the mayor, saying they will uphold his order, then yes, she can say this. But, she can't make orders and decrees over the mayor. Actually she can. The Mayor said only three people can make that call. Him, Her and the governor. |

User ID: 28178764 United States 03/24/2020 02:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | HAHAHAHA Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61839547 Not quite.. LOTS of oil companies and other "Exempt" companies. People will still go to work or work from home. Plus they are keeping parks open, Day care is open.. not quite a lockdown.. I own a manufacturing company in Houston. We are exempt for several reasons. My employees are happy they can keep working. Our customers are very happy too. You had eyes to see, have excellent pattern recognition, and the intelligence to apply that foresight by preparing your company. You are an exception. A blessing of an exception, but still an exception. Too many people have planning horizons that do not extend beyond a week, or two. Thanks LJS. Thanks to GLP, I saw this coming back in January. On Feb. 1st I ordered for my company: 1. Everybody wears a mask, gloves, and safety goggles at all times. 2. No one enters the Office. Purchase orders, shipping docs, etc. go through a window in the back office and are STERILIZED by baking ASAP. Footwear stays outside. 3. No one uses the Break Room. Eat lunch in your car. Don't buy fast food or takeout; bring a lunch from home (most already did). 4. All doorknobs and doors decontaminated by chlorox solution hourly. Rest rooms are decontaminated after each use. 5. No employee works within 10 feet of anther. Keep all exhaust fans running all day. 6. All employees advised to prep (on 2/1!) with food for months at home. 7. Recommend NO going out of your home to restaurants, etc. We also ordered enough chemicals and supplies to stay in business for one year without resupply. I hope these measures keep my people safe and our products flowing out the door. BTW, I advised the leaders and first responders of my small city to do likewise and prepare. I sent four emails to the Governor of Texas over the past 6 weeks begging him to close the schools. They are a day late and a dollar short. BTW, when I was an aerospace engineer, I did long range planning for my company up to 20 years out. I also had the advantage of being briefed on bio warfare a number of times both in the Army and as an aerospace engineer. I always said that the most likely large scale doom was a bio weapon escaping in a third world country. |

Everyone is bum rushing the stores, drive thrus, gun shops. hanging out in the parks, walking their dogs, having cookouts. Houston is probably riddled with it already. Riddle me this: Fake news, corruption, terror, lies, if, if, could be, might, if, could be, might, if, if, fake news, might, could, if. You might be a corona victim IF you have to many IFs in your life, or IF you have verbal diarrhea and say IF all the IF-ing time. LOL |

Only essential business to be open but the list is fairly large of what that includes. Parks are closed. No one allowed on playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball etc. boat ramps are closed. This guy shot someone in the head from close range. He is walking the streets today. Literally. Houston is run by libtards now. I'm surprised the real Texans put up with their bullshit. Every time libtards take control they come up with bullshit that makes people with common sense think, 'WTF?' Bad or missing keyboard. Press F1 to continue.... |

(OP) User ID: 77069580 United States 03/24/2020 03:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Let's talk real for a moment shall we? It is generally believed by many in the area that there is somewhere between 300-500 thousand undocumented workers in the Houston metropolitan area. If they test positive they try to run. The information they give for name, address, and contacts is fake, so trying to contain disease spread in that population group is exceedingly difficult. I would strongly suspect that medical, political, and law enforcement authorities are genuinely fearful of uncontrolled, undocumented spread, if for no other reason than the idea that citizens will try to survive for the good of the community whereas the undocumented have no real allegiance to the area. They come and go and perhaps do not fully understand what is happening. I'm still not sure that we, the general public, do either with so many politicians posturing for elections. Be safe, and try to find some common ground with your political opposite. You may have to work together to survive at some point. I exist. |

I speak Spanish and have many Hispanic family members. I feel sympathy for illegals, but not enough to condone their illegal entry into our country. I personally know a very bright young man from El Salvador. When he was 15 his parents gave him $200 and said, "Go North". He got caught crossing the Rio Grande. That was NINE years ago. Now, his application for asylum is under judicial review which tells you how incredibly slow the process is. BTW, he has a work permit and is now working in a hospital on the front lines against the pandemic. However, he is the exception. I see great masses of illegals thronging the taco trucks and streets without a mask in sight. Its gonna be rampant. |

A public (for profit) large hospital... none of our hospitals are even close to capacity, in fact they all have low census right now because people are staying in. |
