A Republican who lost his job from coronavirus needs to be applying at Amazon, Walmart, McDonalds, Dominos, Safeway and any of the other companies that are hiring in droves right now and refuse to take this check. Period, or be kicked out of the party along with the crooks in the Senate that betrayed the core ideals of the party.

At least they got half a trillion for big business CEOs though, was getting worried there for a minute. Someone heroic and dedicated enough to stand up for his party in the Senate, should be given a medal by Trump for his heroic deeds in standing by the values of America.

The rest of them should be branded as traitors and shipped off to Venezuela since that's what they're hell bent on turning this country into.

I don't think this is going to help the average American all that much. I understand they need to keep companies from going out of business in order for there to even be someone cutting paychecks and keeping the workers paid. But maybe they should have split it into two bills one to take care of the companies and something more beneficial to average people.

They need to get cash into the hands of all of the people caught out by this that are hungry etc. It seems like with the qualifications and stuff that a lot of people are going to fall into edge cases and be left out in the cold. Hopefully that number of people is small enough that this package is enough to stave off riots/looting/burglaries/etc.

A one time $1200 check to a subset of people that fall within their window...idk. I guess we'll see how it works out but I think a month from now things are still going to be pretty dire.

Umm I was listening live when they ended the session. The leadership may have made side deals with each other,but only about 10% of the senate is even in DC at the moment. Most members went home over last weekend.

How can they vote to pass something when they are not even in the capitol,unless they change rules they can not.

White House, Senate reach deal on massive $2 trillion coronavirus spending bill
“At last we have a deal," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

WASHINGTON — The White House and Senate leaders reached an agreement early Wednesday morning on a massive $2 trillion coronavirus spending bill aimed at alleviating the economic impact of the outbreak.

“At last we have a deal," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday. "In effect, this is a war time investment."

Although the full text of the bill is not yet known, lawmakers indicated on Tuesday that the Republican’s initial proposal for direct cash payments would be included.

Under the plan, people making up to $75,000 a year are expected to receive checks of $1,200. Couples making $150,000 will receive $2,400 with an additional $500 per child. The new agreement removed the phase-in provision that excluded lower-income Americans from receiving the full benefit...

Any deal the GOP-controlled Senate approves needs to be passed by the Democratic-led House.

It is possible House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who has been talking with Schumer, could push for more changes to the Senate bill before giving it the go-ahead.

Pelosi said Tuesday morning if the parties can compromise and have “unanimous consent,” the bill can move quickly through the House.

“If we don’t have unanimous consent,” she cautioned, “my two options with my members is: We can call them back to vote to amend this bill, or to pass our own bill and then go to conference with that.”

For those of your heartless enough to throw aside all Americans who need help I’ll give you an example. In our world a great friend of mine opened a second restaurant in October. He’s an amazing chef beyond the locale by far puts tons of pride in his work and employed nearly a hundred staff. This chaos came along while he was one a vacation with family which he cut short. Laid off entire staff and burned through tens of thousands and still will be paying taxes on their employees for earlier in the month with out any income.

This bill may help them survive so frankly I applaud that they got it done it may be filled with pork and may not go with what I want in it. But people need help now.
