CHAYOTE: Benefits & Uses

Chayote is a wonderful green fruit within the gourd family. This does not much taste but provides an enormous amount of health benefits. Many people use chayote for diabetes, and high blood pressure amongst other problems. Adding this to very simple soups, stir fries or salads is a way of improving your overall health easily.




Did you know that chayote is good for the heart and may also help prevent cancer?

...now that I am teleworking my blood pressure has been around 110 / 70 cheer Working at my office keeps it around 140 / 95. There is much benefit in working from home.

I just picked up 3 from the market. It’s a staple in Taiwanese food. My MIL would peel off the skin and boil chopped cubes and add a little bit of salt and a ginger slice and serve it as a soup. My 3 and 4 yr olds love the “Gua Gua soup”, they like to pour the soup over white rice or you can add noodles to the soup.

I started drinking chayote juice today. I made it with aloe vera juice, 1 tablespoon of raw honey and 1 lemon juice. Only tasted the lemon and honey. The texture is like pineapple.
