I don't know what the answer is, other than daycares are going to have to open back up as well.

My ex-wife finally decided this would be the appropriate time to finally let my son come from Florida and live with me. I've only been trying to get her to do that for 4 years now, but better than never.

I'm fortunate because he's old enough to stay by himself should I get called back to work. But there are a lot of people who I have no idea what they will do. It could be a very large clusterfuck

Glad you are getting your kid, like you said it's better late than never...

I think it will be a clusterfuck and will force a lot of people out of their jobs on a more permanent level if they can't leave home because of the kids.

A guy I work with is a single dad with 4 young kids, their mother ran off a few months ago, and now he's left to take care of them all by himself. Luckily we work at a place that is flexible with our schedules enough to accommodate such a thing, but when schools shut down last week, before we got laid off, he had to miss work and stay home. So that's pretty much how it's going to go, I suspect.

Less than ideal, but what other choices are there? It's not like most can take their kids to work with them, nor can everyone work from home. This is a mess, and we are deep into uncharted territory at this point.
