I worked in a similar field. Crazy how many people making 6 figures had no savings. It was all tied up in houses, cars, ex-wives, child support, boats, motorcycles, strip clubs, gambling, guns, and travel.

Big spending on toys is part of that industry. You're supposed to "work hard, play hard" and everyone goes along with the herd mentality.

I saved my money because I knew the job could go away at any given time. I also knew that one thing goes wrong and your career is done.
