The grocery stores around me are loaded... everyone ran out of money/or space to put things.

Shopping was a breeze today

And the ffor the people that say real doom is coming... it'll likely be eqivalent to raising temp slowly and the frog cant tell that its being cooked. Doom will unravel slowly. We are in the bottom of the 2nd. Its gonna be a long ride.

The Walmart by my house has been struggling with keeping tp stocked but the grocery store 200 yards away always has some.

It suggests to me that the organized groups stocking up on toilet paper futures are only hitting certain chains.

In Cali, shelves are much better. Lockdown has slowed down shoppers.

Grocery manager says warehouses filling up again now that panic buying jas lulled.

We will be fine.

It's the writing on the wall. As more workers of take out food places and supermarkets come up as infected, and will close one by one until there is nothing left or we come up with a way to quickly identify and test people.. daily. Otherwise... I dont know. Pray?

Two Trader Joe’s locations in New York City shut their doors this week because staffers tested positive for coronavirus, the company said in a statement.

The Union Square store location — and the adjoining wine shop — were closed after a worker at the shop was confirmed to have the potentially deadly virus, the company said.

The employee last worked at the outpost on Sunday, the company said. Trader Joe’s did not immediately say when it plans to reopen the store.

THAT WOULD BE NEVER MUTHER FUCKER!!!!

even the close for cleaning and it gets frequent, they would just move to curbside pick up only.. you go online order what you need, give them permission to substitute out of stock items, drive up and its get brought to you..... like a lot of grocery stores already offer around here. Long as stock is there they will be opening

Five stars OP. The deniers in this thread sound like the same people shitting on the early prediction thread.

They will be proven wrong, just like the others.

You people are going to starve! LOL!

Grocery stores have contingency plans just in case a very small
group of their associates have COVID-19. Yes they shut the stores down, yet this is the important part, it’s very temporary. The whole store is temporarily shutdown so an external 3rd party health company can come in and sanitized the store. Once it’s sanitized it’s then reopened to the public as soon as possible. Think the changeover of hospital rooms protocols here, or fire/flood restoration, or crime scene cleanup
teams, yet on a grand scale with grocery stores.

..and you hink there will be elections held under this scenario? I highly doubt it, way too much chaos. You'll see an emergency government setup.. Trump will be President by default.. and will lead this emergency until things "normalize".

Re: THIS IS IT--GROCERY STORES BEGINNING TO SHUT DOWN--**ALERT
The U.S. is "perilously close to the edge in terms of our meat supply," says Smithfield CEO Kenneth Sullivan, earlier today announcing the indefinite closing of his company's Sioux Falls processing facility.

Smithfield's Sioux Falls plant is one of the largest pork processing facilities in the US, representing 4-5% of US pork production. It employs 3,700 people, and is supplied by over 550 independent family farmers.

The Sioux Falls plant closure follows other temporary closures by meat producers including: JBS USA Holdings and Cargill Inc. closed meat producing plants in Pennsylvania, Empire Kosher Poultry closed its Pennsylvania plant early for the Passover holiday, and Tyson Foods temporarily shut down a pork plant.

In a press release, Smithfield CEO Kenneth M. Sullivan said "The closure of this facility, combined with a growing list of other protein plants that have shuttered across our industry, is pushing our country perilously close to the edge in terms of our meat supply. It is impossible to keep our grocery stores stocked if our plants are not running. These facility closures will also have severe, perhaps disastrous, repercussions for many in the supply chain, first and foremost our nation’s livestock farmers. These farmers have nowhere to send their animals."

"Unfortunately," he continued, "COVID-19 cases are now ubiquitous across our country. The virus is afflicting communities everywhere. The agriculture and food sectors have not been immune. Numerous plants across the country have COVID-19 positive employees. We have continued to run our facilities for one reason: to sustain our nation’s food supply during this pandemic. We believe it is our obligation to help feed the country, now more than ever. We have a stark choice as a nation: we are either going to produce food or not, even in the face of COVID-19."
