Re: Is anyones life normal right now?
IDK. I'm thinking not. People in New York if they are woke and they can are getting the fuck out. Same with California.

This is not a Democrat/Republican thing. This is what this fear agenda has set in motion.

Your freedom to move about freely has been seriously compromised and it may likely get worse.

This is beyond food and toilet paper. There is a feeling of dread that looms over the collective.

My life is still the same- working as usual, cooking dinners, etc... only I have to go to 4 stores to find everything I need instead of 1 so shopping takes longer.

Re: Is anyones life normal right now?
We're in NY state and we have a thriving online business.
We noticed a small drop but nothing big.

We always worked from home so its business as usual for us👍

The only thing that was affected is our move.
The county clerks office in the state we are moving to conveniently shut down before the title could go through sadly.

But thats it

pretty much...except today my realtor called, someone wanted to view my house and he didn't feel comfortable about it because people from virus places are trying to move where there is no virus...so we both agreed and said no. Who buys or views houses in a pandemic?

Everthing here in Los Angelez looks normal, cars on the road, people walking around, lines outside stores are gone.

My grocery stores have calmed down. Still no toilet paper and no eggs today. There was some ground beef and we are getting water back in.

Yes and no. Im not privileged like most here. Been just about everywhere this virus would thrive, you'd think. Had it back in January. High high fever for 3 days. Body aches, freezing cold/burning up. Let the fever ride out. Didn't take anything but Benadryl, real Sudafed, albuterol with the cough that came after. Wasn't too bad. I managed to exercise before and after the fever.
I too craved ice cream as I heard someone else say. Couldn't eat anything else. Just ice cream. Dont watch news or read about it. My plasma can save lives probably. Started donating last week. Probably do it a few times. Made me faint the 1st 2 times shortly after.
I do not stay in the house but defiantly always stay 6 ft away from people. Always have. I turn my head when I talk to people. Wish they would as well. Totally normal.

I'm not really that weirded out.

Probably because I could see what was going to happen.

It is frustrating though to be unable to stop it.

NYC peeps have been snapping up houses here for the past 6 months. As soon as people put them on the market, there is a cash offer. We are about 5 hours away.

Day 10 of quarantine and my life is normal.

Well, maybe I'm sleeping way more than normal.

Checking in from South America and things are decidedly abnormal. They not only shut down all the borders (land, sea and air) but they shut down all domestic flights as well, all buses, the metro... no one is on the road. Going out will subject you to police on a power trip questioning your motives (one person per family is allowed out and only to buy food, only for a few hours and only certain days per week).

The business world has changed too. Everyone is doing zoom meetings now and they’re all home so you get to see them in their home attire with their living room as their background. Weird.

Here’s the kicker - everyone that I talk to says that they’re tired. Clients, family, coworkers, doesn’t matter, everybody is tired. I guess it’s from being locked inside, with no sun?
 Quoting: Shaun Kaven

I think people are tired because we rarely have time to really relax. And of course stress tires us out. Get as much sleep as possible. And exercise.

WE just moved back to the states after being in Central America for years (Guatemala). What I can't get over is the fact that the locals think they are hiding from like a person or something.

Literally, the Indigenous population is hiding in their homes- scared to go out for even food.

And, even the educated Guatemalans think that they wait in their house for x weeks and then- boom- all safe. They haven't gone through the fact that the borders will open and the infection will arrive.

Also, the government of Guatemala has everyone convinced that catching Corona is a death sentence.

Is it the same there?

We went to the park to walk yesterday. I didn't pet any dogs! we are there often and see many of the same people a lot. I always stop and pet the puppies and even carry dog biscuits in my pocket for them. I can't do that when you need to stay 6' away.

Re: Is anyones life normal right now?
Absolutely not.

I've been living under a lockdown for 2 weeks already and it's absolutely suffocating. Apart from going to supermarkets (which, strangely enough, have very little people in them) and walking my dogs, there's fuck all that can be done.

f.e. You can go jogging, walking, bike riding in this shithole, but using your motorcycle to go for a ride would cost you $350 in fines if they catch you. Sitting outside on a bench or in the grass (no matter if no-one is around) is forbidden.

I took my mother to the university hospital today for an MRI after a traumatic brain injury. We went fully dressed with masks, glasses and gloves. But here's the kicker: 80% of the staff and more than half of the visitors didn't wear any protection.

This fucking psychotic madness is nauseating. Idiotic nonsensical rules are being enforced, whereas truly necessary measures are being completely neglected.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78685480

Everyone should be wearing a mask. But if the government did that here; they know that everyone would buy them up like they do the toilet paper. They’re doing that with chips and other things. Hopefully the lack of stock here is more about people buying higher volume than a food shortage because that would be fucked.

They have been saying that they don’t protect you. They are probably full of shit considering that the doctors and nurses are wearing them and somehow magically not catching it right? Also a mask and glasses stops you from rubbing or itching your face.

I’m surprised nobody has said anything about having open or partially healed cuts on your hand. If you have any; you need to wear medical gloves but again medical supplies so they aren’t going to tell people that. Your skin will protect you if it gets on it but not if you have an open wound

Somehow, i am okay.

No stocks that crashed or lost investments.
Not in school. My job is somehow essential but its super low stress and fun and away from public. Given lots of hours despite store hours reduced.
No old family to lose, they are already dead.
No mortgage, cc debt, loans, or student loan debt.
No babies or animals to worry over.

Know and practce herbal medicine and have potent tinctures helping my immune system.

When you have nothing, there is nothing to lose. I am grateful for my health and my job and my intuition.

I feel so bad for everyone caught in this crumbling tower and I am worried it will sweep me away as well.

Re: Is anyones life normal right now?
I'm in far Southern New Jersey, almost 3 hours South of NYC.

I spent 20 years drunk, depressed and obsessed with all kinds of fictional doom (been here since the beginning).

This virus hit, I stopped drinking and my depression lifted. So weird.

I think what happened is … in my subconscious … "This is the doom you have been dreading and prepping for your whole adult life … let's do this."

Life is not normal - I am working from home and homeschooling.

For the purposes of isolation, we're counting my household, my SO's household (we do not live together due to real estate issues), his ex-wife's household, and my ex-husband's household as one household (5 adults in their 40s, 5 children 8-14, and a brand new baby belonging to my SO's ex-wife and her new husband).

We made a deal that the kids don't go anywhere else or have play dates outside that bunch, nor is anyone coming to visit any of the 4 homes. This in itself is the strangest thing that has happened in 6 years since my divorce … this level of cooperation. We are even texting each other if someone goes out, so that the others don't have to expose themselves … it's unbelievable to all of us, I think … but we are doing it for our collective kids.

Fortunately, 4 of the adults are able to work from home and my SO is a contractor who doesn't get near anyone all day.

In my house we're vegetarian so we've had no problem with food as it seems like the meat is what's missing.

I miss my sister and her family, and my mother. They all live together and we aren't visiting.

I live close to a park and no one is 'social distancing' and all the kids are playing on the swings and the playground..no one is coming out to clean the play equipment or anything..the benches and tables that sit under the pavilion have not been cleaned either. The city said they would not be coming out to disinfect anything. It's not being taken seriously, we have 2 cases in my town. And it looks like my neighborhood park is turning into a hot spot being school is closed and people want to get out of the house.

Totally normal.

Nice to see roads with a bit less trafffic. Still working in retail, not much worried, taking more precautions but life is good. Beautiful weather this time of year also!

It’s just a cold going around, that’s all, it is very weird to see the reaction to it though. Lots of people laid off but also many new job listings. Our business has been impacted. Less customers but larger purchases, balancing things a bit.

Yes mine is and doing very well. My wife is a teacher getting paid and cleaning the house. My business is up significantly with covid19 I cannot complain. We are both young in excellent health and not exposed to many people normally.

Fingers crossed this holds up for a bit. Oh and thanks for the SBC disaster loans with a 10k grant tagged on, awesome for a new Escalade I like the 2021 body style.

Not any more fucked up than usual. I'm really glad for that one time I spent five years living in a barn with no running water. Learned some good life skills like: put your dirty dishes outside and wait for it to rain.

Re: Is anyones life normal right now?
Each of our circumstance is different OP. +5 for a thread that makes one think.

My life isn't normal but for a brief transient period I see that it is better than it was before.

I find my coworkers annoying and a distraction.

I dislike needing to get up two and one-half hours early to shower, shave, and put on my coat and tie to head to work.

I dislike the drive home.

I am generally wary of people that look a little 'off' as I shop but make it a point to interact with others, even helping them retrieve items from high shelves.

Now that I work from home I do not need to deal with annoying or backstabbing coworkers.

Now that I work from home I may awaken twenty minutes before work, no business attire needed and may work in my tee shirt and underwear.

I walk to the den to start my day. [Two hours of my time saved].

When I get off work, no need to fight traffic or drive home--I'm already here.

I could work like this for years, but being selfish or an island is no man's right and I know this shutdown is hurting many and they are without work and getting ill so it must end.

Until it does end or we have a return to our former normal, I'll enjoy my 'business formal black underwear' and forty year old tee shirt I wore in college as I work from my den.

Re: Is anyones life normal right now?
No change for me. I'm a loner and prefer to stay alone, and also I work remotely. This was my life prior to the start of this, so literally no change. I see my neighbors every day, and they are enjoying this time. No one in my community is panicking AT ALL.

I'm sure people are loving the work from home gig. I could never go back to the office and have to play nice with everyone. Fuck that noise.
