No, not at all. My wife and I are both fortunate enough to be able to work from home, but our senior is trying to do school from home as well. It's weird to say the least.

Re: Is anyones life normal right now?
I'm in NYS, but not near NYC...

life is fairly normal for me, but I live on a farm (my family owns it, not me specifically, but I help and for that, tend to get plenty of free fruits and veggies when the weather has warmed up). I've always done my best to not have to leave the farm unless necessities or medically necessary.

I pray more. I pay attention to the news a lot less now. I predicted plenty before it came to pass, and I want to set aside the worry. Fear is bad for this virus, and through God, all things will happen as they're meant.

So, for the past week or so, I've really pushed myself to avoid the fear trap. I've gotten some seeds planted (some are sprouting), and working on a few sweet potatoes I had leftover.

In order to maintain hope, I'm spending my time searching for a place to move to in Europe to hopefully be able to start my life with my fiance (planning to be married by then, even if we have to elope for it).

I have hope, and God is making all things new. hf

Yes, pretty much so but that’s only because I’m a recluse anyway. I usually try to go to town no more than 2 times per week and now I’m down to only once.

Nothing normal about it.

I still have my job, thank God, but am doing it from home now... which has its plusses and minuses.

My girlfriend, just today, was stopped by a cop walking down the sidewalk to the park with her 2 yr old daughter... he told her to go home, and that they were only allowed to be out if going to get food or for medical.

She was near her car and he even took her plate number down... she lives 30 miles away and is now afraid to drive.

This shit is happening all over the DFW metroplex. More so in the uppity areas like Farmers Branch and Highland Village than others, but the laws, in general, are making a definate scene to ensure people stay at home.

The lockdown isn't really affecting my lifestyle other than not being able to go to my favorite fishing spots... which these days is a once in a blue moon event anyways. Generally I spend my free time working on projects around the house, got more honey do's on my plate than this lockdown will provide time for lol

I've been laying in bed for 10 days watching tv. That is far from normal.

I've also spent entirely too much time here laughing my ass off over some of these threads.

I'm glad I'm spending the end of the world with all you folks!

IDK. I'm thinking not. People in New York if they are woke and they can are getting the fuck out. Same with California.

I get up. Make breakfasts and lunches. Get them out the door. Feed the dogs. Get them out the door. Clean the kitchen. Get dressed. Make the bed. Clean the bathroom. Take care of trash. Make my phone calls. Plan supper and lunches. Take myself and the dogs for a walk. Do whatever needs doing. Housework, laundry yard, shopping etc, start supper. Watch the birds and drink coffee and smoke cigs for a bit. Talk family. Clean returned things. Finish and eat supper with family. Feed the dogs. Clean up dinner. Take a shower. Sit in my chair and read or something until bed. Repeat.
Same as it ever was.
Except now I have a grocery order instead of a trip in and a really good excuse to not have to visit other people once a week or say for the millionth time that I'm sorry but I do NOT want to attend some overpriced event, or go to an overpriced bourgeois restaurant.

Re: Is anyones life normal right now?
Stuff that's still normal:

Work at home, so does wife. No change, there.

Had plenty of resources already, so no financial panic.

Have stuck to our ordinary dog walking schedule. Haven't been harassed about it by authorities.

Supermarkets are fine. Slightly depleted stock on some items, but otherwise just fine.

-----

Stuff that's NOT normal, and pissing us off:

Wife's gym is closed. That was her primary fitness activity. Doing it at home by herself... Just not the same.

Bowling centers closed. That's MY primary fitness activity, as well as social activity (I'm a scratch bowler). Wife bowls, too (but not as often as I do). I bowled 4 days a week, 3 hours minimum each of those days. This has been a major hardship for me.

State Championship Tournament cancelled... Still waiting to get our entry fees returned from CA USBC.

Honestly... I'm most pissed about missing my bowling, and the action that comes with it (I play for money). Racetrack is in off-season, so haven't missed the horses, yet. Supposed to open soon, though. If I miss that too, it'll be pitchforks and torches time.

Vegas closed. We like to hit Vegas about every six weeks for tournaments and carousing. Have already had a couple of upcoming tournies cancelled. Fuck!

---

Stuff that's REALLY pissing us off:

This is total financial destruction for people still living hand-to-mouth... Particularly young folks trying to get their life 'launched'. They should be utterly pissed beyond belief about this bullshit. I really feel for them.

Seeing what a bunch of neutered fucking sheep our fellow citizens are (only a handful of exceptions). This country is utterly fucked. I believe that more than ever, after this.

I'm convinced people are going to start to rebel, though... Been starting to hear a little more dissent on the radio and among neighbors. .Gov can't keep this up much longer.

I won't even get into the utter wrongheadedness of making otherwise healthy people quarantine themselves instead of having the actual at-risk people quarantine themselves, instead. This was just fucking stupid... OR... Part of the plan. Very suspicious.

How do you propose that all of the at-risk people be found and quarantined? Should the National Guard be dispensed to go house to house nationwide? Who should they take into custody? The at risk or the not at risk? Where should they be taken? For how long?
Should household members not at risk move out? Maybe they could erect force fields inside their homes.

It seems that the easiest, least expensive, and least intrusive is an in general quarantine. As the intelligent and mature among us were self quarantining without being told and without whining - maybe you could take your cue from them.

Let them self-select. If they're really scared, they can make arrangements with their own circle to get them food and supplies. The ones that aren't afraid or don't give a shit can do what they like.

This disease has not killed anywhere close to what the average flu season has killed. It's killing the usual suspects. Sometimes influenza kills young people just like COVID19 does. We just need to let it run it's course. Yes, you should try to protect the elderly, but other than that it's a normal diseae.

Checking in from South America and things are decidedly abnormal. They not only shut down all the borders (land, sea and air) but they shut down all domestic flights as well, all buses, the metro... no one is on the road. Going out will subject you to police on a power trip questioning your motives (one person per family is allowed out and only to buy food, only for a few hours and only certain days per week).

... <snip>
 Quoting: Shaun Kaven

WE just moved back to the states after being in Central America for years (Guatemala). What I can't get over is the fact that the locals think they are hiding from like a person or something.

Also, the government of Guatemala has everyone convinced that catching Corona is a death sentence.

Is it the same there?
 Quoting: ladulce

The government is taking it seriously but most Colombians don’t think it’d a big deal. Thus the heavy handed government measures - they tried to ask people to stay home and it didn’t work. Last Monday was a holiday and loads of people tried to hit the road for a long weekend.

The government plan is: close the borders and do a mandatory, national quarantine for 20 days. The idea is that any asymptomatic cases will manifest themselves during those 20 days and they and their family can be isolated. In theory, after the 20 days everyone with the virus in the country is isolated and the virus gets stamped out.

The problem is 1) there’s too many exceptions and 2) you’d have to leave the borders closed indefinitely.
Like I told my ex-wife, I said: honey, I never drive faster than I can see. Besides that, it’s all in the reflexes…
