Employers do this when they see the advantage all the time.

It happened to my ex-wife. She was kicking ass at this
shop selling pagers, turning them on, even fixing them.

Her brother worked there and got her the job.
Then came the 'I want you to stay after and help me with
something' B.S. and I was like, I don't trust this guy, but
she was like, he's helping me by giving me more responsibility
and I love what I do so don't get jealous and stay out of it.

Ok.

Sure enough, tried something and she turned him down.

Next day the next thing I know she's calling my work
crying because she just got fired and can I come pick her
up. Guy was a rich (insert many bad words here) and got away
with a lot of stuff.
That's their life. It's not fair it's not right but,
there ya are. Some men can't stop themselves. Even if
she's married or seeing someone...they don't care...
