Anonymous Coward User ID: 78587282 United States 03/25/2020 10:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are many retired people, couples, and other well-to-do individuals who simply do not need this money from the government, even though they may by virtue of income, qualify to receive it. I hope they have the courage and grace to refuse it and tell the government to give it to others who are in need. Better yet, perhaps they should cash the check and then give the money directly to those in need. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77504359 But I got a new job January 2019 making 35% more (100k) and I make too much money. This is a single parent household … it's AS IF there were 2 adults making 50k each. I'm a little miffed about it. Don't file yet. They will use 2018 return of 2019 not filed yet. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78677163 United States 03/25/2020 10:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not sure if I’ll get a check or not. My husband makes over $100,000 and I’m a stay at home mom (we have 3 young children), so I have no income. We don’t really need it, but it would be nice to have if this lockdown situation continues to drag on. If I get something, I’ll put it in savings just in case we need it. Quoting: Rabbit In The Hat You will get it. Married couples have to make over 150K before they get nothing. You get 2400 plus 500 per child is what I heard. President gave an example. Family of four would get 3400. |

That way the dept of treasury knows who and where to send it to, and how many dependents you have. (and those making over $100k don't qualify) Singles making over a 99k don't get it. If you were married when you filed you will. Under 150k for married. |

This stimulus is nothing but a handout to the non working. 600/wk is like 15/hr. Pays better to stay at home and not work. Wretched politicians suck. |

Another stipulation I saw was if someone else could/did claim you (like college kids, etc). Its going to have so many rules & stipulations tied to it, I doubt many will get it. But hey, Boeing & The Kennedy Center will be A-OK, so all will be right with the world. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77432258 NOT TRUE. There is a threshold in which those above a certain income will get nothing, and it’s a low threshold. I last heard it was $75,000. That counts ME out. I’d gladly take the $1,200 but I won’t be getting any. . @ 75K they start giving less. It cuts you off @ 99k per person or 198k for a married couple. This is irritating as a single parent making exactly 100k. I realize I'm fortunate to still have my salaried job … but it irritates me that the married couple w kids making 198k gets 2400 to my 1200. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78164550 Did you file a tax return last year? Eligibility - YES. If not... Fill out info that puts you back on the grid with the IRS!!! To get the check! Not financial advise!!! Just common sense to those in need and those trying to scam! Fill out what? I got SS retirement for both last year and this one. No other income. Not enough to file a return. What info are you talking about "filling out"? |
