Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78164550 Did you file a tax return last year? Eligibility - YES. If not... Fill out info that puts you back on the grid with the IRS!!! To get the check! Not financial advise!!! Just common sense to those in need and those trying to scam! Fill out what? I got SS retirement for both last year and this one. No other income. Not enough to file a return. What info are you talking about "filling out"? Fill out a late filing form for 2018 taxes claiming "whatever" income you made. If your SS check was $800 a month, you made $9,600 in income; too low to tax you but it shows you FILED the damn form. That's all you need to do. You will not owe taxes but if you submit the form showing that you earned income, you will be on their radar and therefore *automatically* receive a check for $1,200 in a few weeks. If this is too difficult for you to understand or figure out on your own, call your local H&R Block and explain your situation. It may cost you $35 for them to fill it out for you but it's worth it to get the $1,200. |

Quoting: tbear4 but i know this has cost me way more than there giving out. Yeah I’ve spent about 7 grand on preps for this. I spent over $1,500 but I was just topping off my preps with short term freezer meats and canned goods. Probably would have spent more but I maxed out my credit card. I've been living off preps and $40 dollars for the last two weeks of this month until the 1st of April, LOL. So I will definitely cash the check. Living this close to the bone SUCKS. |

You're not out of a job or on reduced hours like a bunch of other people have just found out the past couple weeks. |

This is probably exactly where this check is going for those that are smart. A bunch of people have gone out in the last couple weeks and spent a shit ton of their savings or credit to stock up. The economy has already been stimulated as much as these checks are going to help. The smart ones will be putting this check towards replenishing their savings, or paying down the debt they just racked up. |

Went in debt moving and getting a few things a few months ago, figured it was better to be poor/in dept staying happy and healthy then to have a little money stashed away. So sitting on $6k debt which will probably take over a year to pay off, but at least I can have some fun doing hobbies in the meantime. |

She doesn't need the money so she and I will be giving the money from her check away to needy friends/families we know that have lost their job. Anonymous Coward User ID: 78660322 Colombia 03/25/2020 11:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Still trying to figure this one out, appreciate any input you guys can give me -- I'm a digital nomad from Detroit currently living in Colombia (stuck here actually because of this, but s'cool) but file my taxes every year. Last time I had a refund was 2016, direct deposit to my still current bank account, but 2017 and 2018 I owed and paid through TurboTax using my credit card. Will they go back to my last refund in 2016 and use that bank account information to send the refund direct deposit? Or will they refund it to the credit card I've paid with the last 2 years? For obvious reasons I'm not able to receive and cash a paper check... lol. Thank you all for your input! |

Well, due to fraud if u go on the irs site it says it wont direct deposit more tgen 3 times to the same account. Doesnt that make a lot of sense? That a new unverified rando account is way safer then an established checking account you have used for years. The reason i found out is i was actually one of the people who used the same account for years. So while waiting on direct deposit that never came i received a check. So i still think it will come in check. They will not wamt to get into a system of flagging 4th direct deposits. |
