"Highly-organised" black-market sellers are being blamed for the panic-buying phenomenon gripping supermarkets across the nation as police crackdown on those profiteering from the crisis and urge others to dob them in.

Police are launching a massive crackdown on criminal groups hoarding essential items from supermarkets and reselling them overseas as the government plans a targeted home delivery program for the elderly.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton told 2GB's Ray Hadley organised criminal groups were being investigated for depriving everyday Australians of critical groceries.

"We do have some people profiteering, hoarding not for consumption and either selling overseas or in a black market arrangement in Australia. We are going to come after those people and give them a fair warning now it won't be a pretty experience."

Police were swooping in on the behaviour, targeting areas where hoarding has been reported, Mr Dutton said.

"We will come down like a tonne of bricks on those individuals because I think they're the ones that have created this pattern of behaviour with hoarding and clearing shelves and normally sensible people have been wrapped in this because they've panicked when they've seen the shelves empty," he said.

When I shop, I always clear the few items I care for from the shelves. I only shop once every month or two and only use a few items. I buy all I can so I don't have to shop again for a while.

I hate shopping.

well you better stop doing that. or the cops will come after you. for reals.

they are telling people to "only buy what you normally buy and a little bit extra, then there will be enough for everybody". and they are saying "you need six months supply of everything because lockdown!"

gee how can people buy six months supply if they only buy what they normally buy plus a little bit extra?

how can people even buy what they normally buy plus a little bit extra, when there is a sign saying that you aren't even allowed to buy what you normally buy because of purchase limits?

also they say to cough or sneeze into your elbow not your hands. and don't shake hands, do a elbow bump instead. so cough on your elbow and then go around elbow bumping people... is all this advice supposed to work together???

if you sell for a fair price they won't. or you could donate them to the hospital.

in related news, organized crime gangs have broken into the police stations investigating the toilet paper bandits. they stole all the toilets from the office areas of the investigators. detectives complain that they have nothing to go on.

wonder if the cops will crack the case? imagine 20 cops turning up at a giant warehouse full of toilet paper and masks and hand sanitizer...

officer bruce picks a plastic package and cuts a little hole in it with his pocket knife. he takes a piece of the white stuff out of the package and puts it in his mouth to taste it. "yep it's toilet paper all right. pure tassy white. quilted with little flowers printed on it. these are the guys all right. we got 'em. youre nicked sunshine/"

maybe only the police should be allowed to sell toilet paper? then when the organized crime toilet paper gangsters try to buy out all the toilet paper in the police stations, the police can arrest them. problem solved!

It sounds to me like the toilet paper problem is getting too big for your current governmental heirarchy. It's becoming more and more obvious that the solution to your toilet paper problem is complete and absolute socialism.

It was almost impossible to get toilet paper in Mexico unless you went to an American Costco & even then it was crappy paper! So I get it! Selling over seas dip the TP mystery is unraveling & I wouldn't be surprised if the cartel was involved seeing as they now totally control avacado business out of Mexico

A few weeks ago buying a warehouse full of toilet paper and reselling it would surely have been normal business.

yes if you bought it from a toilet paper factory. stripping supermarkets and selling it on the black market or overseas is not normal business. seems unlikely to be illegal though. maybe they are right now passing a law saying that people are only allowed to have five rolls of toilet paper each? then the cops just have to count up to six to tell who the criminals are!

it shows how terrible the world economy is. one country gets a virus and the whole world shuts down. then all the other countries get the virus too.

Of course. Only they're organized through CIA and Deep State, because you just can't walk in and buy the whole store. They are buying huge amounts, as if they're doing it backroom deals and it should be absolutely illegal.

And they knew about it, pretty much poised to do it.

This was planned as an extra form of terror on people who are stuck home, some have to use the washroom every 30 minutes, with health problems, and some are very sick and need lots of tissue and washroom issues.

This is a form of absolute terror on people.

Look, bud. it would be a crying shame if your family ran out of toilet paper or for some reason somebody took a baseball bat to your toilets. So for say um, maybe 20 percent of your food and unemployment checks, and a twice a week fling with your daughter, you get to keep havin' toilet paper and a pot to shit in.

Kapeesh? Consider it insurance that no bad guys cause you trouble.
