An 8.0+ at Yellowstone wouldn't do anything. Hegben Lake was a 7.5 and had no effect on the Caldera. It might cause another rock slide, but it wont cause anything to change.

Now let me break it down a little more for you. Yellowstone has 2 chambers. The upper chamber as of the last testing done had 5-15% PARTIAL melt with the rest being solid rock. The lower chamber is 4.5 times the size of the upper chamber with 2% partial melt.

There is simply not enough eruptable material in the Yellowstone system for an eruption at this time. Its that simple.
