Mask Mistake in US and Europe
While I don't support hoarding of masks, and I think N-95 should be reserved for the health care workers first, I do think that people should wear masks --SOME type of mask as they do in asian countries-- when they MUST go out.

I capitalize MUST because I think people should have stocked up by now and stay the hell home.

This scientist concurs that US and Europe are making a huge mistake by encouraging the public not to wear masks:

Again, it is best to just stock up and stay home for weeks on end and/or have food delivered and decontaminate it before deliveries enter the home.

But for those who venture out I think they should be wearing something over the face to reduce exposure.

Did I mention that those who are leaving the house right now are certifiably nuts? People are walking around with a lethal weapon you can't see...and it comes out in tiny droplets as they talk to you or even BREATHE in line at the grocery store.

You then move forward from your place in line and walk into that cloud of disease and breathe it int.

Yes and no.... but mostly yes. While an uninfected person wearing a mask does not reliably protect that person the infected person wearing that same mask can protect others. Since a person can be contagious before having a clue that they are sick it would make sense for everyone to wear one when in public or close contact with others. This would go a long ways in limiting the droplets either in air or on surfaces produced by the infected individual. Even a homemade mask with multiple fabric layers can be somewhat effective when worn by the infected person. No, it's not full-proof by any means but limiting the likelihood of exposure certainly can't hurt.
Proud to share the basket with you.
