Teddy bears in the windows to show viral status???

My boyfriend and I just went on a neighbourhood walk to steal a certain flower from someone else’s bush. It’s not very far of a walk to the bush and back. We saw 5 teddy bears, 3 in windows and 2 in trees. Someone here mentioned it and it sounded like a dumb idea.

I thought maybe it had something to do with declaring your household’s viral status. As it turns out, it’s to entertain children. Some kind of teddy bear scavenger hunt! At least that’s what it is in this article I found about it, but the article is about the Bay Area in California, and we are in Australia. Likely some sort of Facebook fuckery....
