Italy has been on lockdown for nearly 4 weeks. Italy still has hundreds of deaths per day due to the virus.

People are NOT in total lockdown. People have to go out to buy food, some people still have to go to work, some people still have to use taxis, buses, trains and the tube (underground trains), some idiots are ignoring the lockdown, young people are doing stupid shit like lick the toilet seat challenge, some idiots who know they are infected are deliberately spreading the virus, etc.

Also, you can have the virus for up to 21 days before you yourself become sick. Of course that means for 21 days your spreading the virus. That of course means some people in lockdown have the virus but are NOT showing symptoms yet. While they are in lockdown unless they live alone they are spreading the virus to people they live with. People who have the virus and not showing symptoms yet who have to go to work are passing on the virus to colleagues. If they use public transport to get to work they are passing on the virus to other people.

The lockdown was NEVER meant to stop the virus. We can't stop the virus without a vaccine or herd immunity. The lockdown was meant to SLOW the spread of the virus so the infection rate is spread over months rather than weeks. They want to slow the infection rate to give health services more chance of dealing with the infected. If they don't slow the infection rate the health services will not be able to cope with the number of people infected.
