I'm so glad to see people participating - thank you all so much!!!! I welcome all your suggestions and ideas and I'm sure that they'll be very useful.

Fear is the one thing we really have to overcome because as Anonymous Girl says....what we're seeing now is unprecedented for us. Even in our prior wars, WW1 and WW2, we were at least allowed to join together to fight a common external enemy. Here we are being forced to STAY ALONE to keep us from each other and to fight an invisible enemy....that doesn't really exist as they say it does. You can disagree with me on that, but....it is what it is.
 Quoting: Blue State Rebel

In WW1 and WW2 people made sacrifices for ideals.
Most Americans today are so wussified with their safe spaces that they can’t pull themselves out of their fetal curl and think straight. Add in the cognitive dissonance of TDS and we are headed to the gulag.

Re: Fear is the Mind Killer - Your suggestions for CONTROLLING & STOPPING FEAR
This is so true.

Now that we are in a time of fear, anticipation and planning, the thing we have most to control is our own FEAR.

None of us know what is really going on, all of us are afraid. It's natural. But we MUST be able to control our fear because FEAR IS THE MIND KILLER.

It prevents us from doing what we have to do to survive. Be aware that Fear is a warning that something is wrong, that we are threatened...but don't give in to it. If we do, we cannot plan any protections for ourselves nor envision the future.

FROM DUNE:

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

 Quoting: Blue State Rebel

interesting pivot contrasted with your earlier overall themes
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77619601

I don't know what you think my earlier themes were...basically I think the "authorities" are lying to us as they always do and they are presenting this virus as something far far worse than it is. Their actions are completely overblown and most of them are despotic and unconstitutional. I don't think what they're doing - raiding the treasury and forcing us to stay in our homes - is about any virus.

I think THEY are the fear mongers. But I can't keep saying the same thing endlessly. I get bored saying it and people get bored seeing it. Especially if they disagree.

But one thing we are ALL EXPERIENCING RIGHT NOW is Fear. I can see that with Jeanine Pirro last night.

So the key to me right now is learning to control and dispel Fear in general and to do something productive with our lives and emotions, right now, in the time and space we have. To me the only way to do that is ultimately to teach and help others but we all have our ways which is why I ask people to share their thoughts here.

I have also said this. We arent going back to normal because people dont want to. All of this is plays out how we handle it and how we allow the media and the government to handle it. It's always been said that most are sheep to the slaughter and this is more apparent now then ever. Covid 19 is real but it has to get into the mind to destroy the body.

That is SO true. An entire generation has been CONDITIONED to live in fear, starting with 911. That's 20 years of fear - that's an ENTIRE GENERATION.

We've got a lot of work to do to undo this damage and try to teach these young ones to master their fear and do productive things in their lives, especially things that don't require or involve GOVERNMENT. They need to learn to become confident and independent again and believe in something beyond themselves and the Government.

I believe in God and the power of helping other people. I'd like to pass that on.

I do that too!!!! You're not alone. My husband is pretty sick of it and I have to be aware of the effect I have on other people. I have been described as....forceful, LOL, which I don't think about myself at all, but there it is.

So it's good to let out your emotions, but I think we have to be aware of the effects on other people especially if they can't escape us right now and it makes them feel worse.

That's a great idea! I've always loved the idea of all children learning martial arts right in the schools as it teaches discipline and self control.

This right now, this time of not working, might be a great time to learn things. I'm trying to teach myself new ways of knitting, cooking, playing a musical instrument. It would be a good time to maybe study a martial arts on line - there are plenty of videos. And maybe people can find those in their neighborhoods who know how to do this and can teach small groups. SHHHHHHHH....we won't tell.

YES....when this first happened I kept thinking of the Bible verse from my favorite book...which is Job. "Naked came I from my mother's womb, naked shall I return. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord."

A great thing to think about in times of stock market losses!

Daily bible readings are a very good thing in a family and maybe now we all have the time to return to this.

Maybe going backwards is going to strengthen us right now. I see many families out and walking together, riding bikes together, going to the park....they may regret shutting us down.

WE HAVE RE-DISCOVERED OUR FAMILIES AND NOW WE HAVE TIME TO SPEND WITH THEM...AND TO THINK.

Learn something, work, clean, cook, read. Begin a garden project or something useful to provide for you and your community. Volunteer, seniors need food and Meals on Wheels is still delivering meals. Volunteer to feed animals at the shelter who need meals.

There is a LOT to do at home and in the community right now.

This is a time of action and bravery not cowering and crying.

My clinical opinion is that most fear is cinema induced. Your offer of advice? More cinema to explain the fear.

My husband at this time is taking comfort in old TV shows of his youth like Gunsmoke. I'm watching old shows like Secret Agent, Mission Impossible etc.

We can also find strength and comfort in the past. I am amazed to see how well written so many of those shows were compared with what we have now. Maybe we can re-discover those standards.

Accept that everything's temporary and safety has always been an illusion. Stay very very calm and let go of what you can't control. Take life moment by moment and let your every action be motivated by love.

Works for me.

Nice to know Im not alone. Bad morning for me, husband out cleaning pool house, to get away.

 Quoting: Spritzer

Yes, I woke up today feeling pretty bad myself. And then I decided that I'm sick of being afraid and sick of worrying. I think the antidote in an immediate sense is to regain some control by DOING something. So I created this thread in the hopes of seeing what folks had to say and getting ideas. I'm so glad people have joined in. It's good to have community even on line. I think we can motivate each other to be brave, productive and useful. There are good people here!

And sometimes couples need to have some space too because when you're cooped up, you can get on each other's nerves even if you have a solid relationship. We get along very well, but it happens to us too. So as I say....BASEMENT!!!! or pool houses :)

I agree with you. I don't think what we're being told is real either. We have to start being open about that. But we also have to realize that they will lie to us no matter what and we can't do much about that except not get caught up in it and believe them.

That's why I think we have to do real things in our real physical lives, in our homes and neighborhoods to destroy fear and build hope. To me that comes with practical ideas and a sense of community, and the faith that several have mentioned.

Prepping is great, but there’s no way possible to prep to the extent that you can handle absolutely anything that comes along for absolutely any length of time... so prepping won’t dissuade your fear.

The answer is to TRUST GOD and rely on Him... that’s what I do, and He’s seen me through more “certain doom” situations than I can count, and I’m better today for having gone through them.

I'm already infected i think, with toxoplasma gondi otherwise i can't explain some of my irrational behaviour or fearlessness of my constant driving antics throughout my life. I'm sure i had a previous life in a meat suit but i have no recollection of it.
I don't think you can really stop fear, but lately say for the the last 50 years, humanity has hightened its self-destructive capabilites across the planet and upon each other. Looks like we've come to the end of the road, so just one more fast chicane and i'll be free.

Use pure logic instead of emotions.

You can CHOOSE whether you use logic or emotionn.

Emotion is for retards when shit is hitting fans.

 Quoting: Butch DeFeo

As with anything moderation is the key. Too much of any one thing and you can lose.

If you give in to only logic, you will be likely to ignore your instincts which can be fatal. Give into the fear and you will be paralyzed ignoring all else.

A balance in life is the key in EVERY situation.

I'd like people to think about this thread every now and then, today and in the coming week. It's not just about a thread, it's about controlling our minds and emotions and deciding what ACTIONS we're going to take during this time.

We need to put ourselves BACK IN CONTROL and help others to do the same. Your ideas will help do that!

He purported to have a real Q&A with the devil and believe he really might have.

Awesome insights as to why you should NEVER tolerate ANY fear in your thoughts. Absolutely changed my thinking about fear.
