Quoting: Furrry Pete They also run small businesses and skim cash, things we'd get arrested for too. I would build a log cabin before I'd live with a dozen other people. The mooches can go try living off them. Um, that is a generalization in my experience. Mostly the new immigrants get a house, they work jobs (they do not all of a sudden have small businesses), then work on themselves and then buy more houses. I guess you didn't grow up with the Walton's? I did, I would love a multi-generational home. Americana is weak in you. Waltons were all liberal Communist actors. The old grandparents especially. Communism is weak in me, I'm a strong American individualist, a rancher, a Westerner.. You haven't lived in big American cities have you? The immigrants all have stores and buy up the welfare tickets or whatever they get, at pennies on the dollar and cheat the government. That's just one scam. Nope! I'm rural...but would not hesitate to take others in (did last year in fact) when they were down on their luck. Did home hospice for a relatively unknown stranger and cleaned poop from my sons bed when he slept in it when my son was away and the hospice fellow slept in it. I guess I'm a Christian and you...meh...I look after people. You look after yourself. Great on you. Byt their fruits you will know them...you tree is barren. Really? You hate me because I am a Christian, you're a self admitted Satanist, a big devil you yourself said so. This rental house we built from our money, to take in the MIL who lived out her days with us, dying at 92. I cooked her meals, took her everywhere she needed to go, pretty much giving up my own life and time for her. Last winter I rented the place to an elderly woman who had nowhere to go, at one third the going price. She repaid me by moving and leaving a garage full of junk behind. It has cost me thousands of dollars in upkeep just this year alone, deck repair (which the tenant tore up) house cleaning, carpet cleaning, hauling trash away, well testing. tree trimming, roof and gutter cleaning and repair, garbage pick up, on and on it goes..so it's not like I'm getting rich off of it. Lance from BC is right Pete. Your brand of "American Individualism", which is actually dehumanizing atomization, is the main contributor to the destruction of America. It all started with the "move out" craze of the 50's (another false golden age whose memory was created by chambers of commerce), where nearly all Americans were enslaved to banks, just like the student loan craze of today, which is a repeat of the move out craze. Multi-generational homes allow families to learn from one another and build intergenerational wealth, which makes a country strong and resilient. Also, if you hate the government, as it seems you do, you should applaud those people who "TAKE ALL THE MERNEY", because it reduces the amount of operating capital the government has to spend on other things. And if they take all the jobs, like you say they do, it means that more people are unemployed, which means the pool of operating capital is further sucked dry, leaving even less money for those government programs which you most surely dislike. Further, if you're this big he-man individualist, why don't you buy up a couple of those stores and run them? Have you ever considered that these immigrants are simply running their businesses better and you're tilting at windmills with a 45 calibre fashion accessory? Furthermore, "westerner" isn't a title with any factual historical individualism attached to it. The American west, since the exploratory efforts of Lewis and Clark, has always relied upon the markets and factories of the east not only for machines, firearms, parts, fabrics, and a whole bevy of other products, but also as a viable market for their own produce and products. There is no true historical individualism attached to the west; like every conquered territory there are always roads back to Rome and goods travel to and fro upon them. Some are waiving fees and such, but there's no free ride. They will get their money, all of it. This us ugly shit. And what about landlords who depend on those rent payments as a source of income....they would be put in a bad spot too Why should I worry about the landlords income over my own? And they're doing this in the hopes you will have 3 months rent at some point when you get back on your feet? If you get your job back? That would mean letting go of other 'priorities' to get that large sum of money back. Which do they suggest people stop paying to pay them back? Car bill? Insur. bill? Food bill? Nat. Gas bill? Elec. bill? Health Insur. bill? Trash bill? Water bill? Transportation bill? Daycare bill? Clearly these people are nowhere near being realistic in how humankind has been saddled with so much debt, once you're behind, that's pretty much when your world falls apart. Credit gets ruined.
