the damage from spring breakers hasn't shown yet!

May 3rd for Florida 33 days until peak

that was the data, the map was like a sparkler went off in Florida and spread across the landmass.

Makes sense I suppose to hunker down in a place experiencing the worst as it will be the first to bounce back given resources are not yet depleted.

What does it matter? Even if it was 1 which is was 4-5 weeks ago and everyone left their quarantine it would still go up because there's always 1. It's never going to be zero.

So what's the point of all this??

If everyone is caged in, the numbers will decrease. Even with grocery stores still open and amazon still delivering. The cases will go down. Once the government assures the citizens that this is past us now and go back to work slaves, it will rise up even worse than the initial outbreaks.

There is no escape from this - we all get it.

Australia's cases have been declining too the last few days...

But guess what?

Its due to not doing as many tests, we are running out of testing kits and thus are reducing the number of people being tested...

I believe the same is happening in Florida and many other parts of the world.
What you may think is gone... might come back to haunt you.

It keeps increasing in my county. I found it unusual that they would include whether or not the person traveled from somewhere else. That information doesn't matter to the virus.

The hoax ends in Florida.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72983382

Of course the hoax will end, they can't keep on pretending flu deaths are covid9 deaths. There are only an upper of 650 000 deaths a year for the flu, they can't keep on borrowing deaths from the flu for too long, otherwise the math won't add up.

Re: Florida's Curve Begins to Flatten!
Cases down today --- roughly two weeks after the beginning of social distancing on Mar 16th--- this is very similar to the curve for China two weeks after the lockdown---- but might just be a Monday fluke. About 9% of those asking for a test in Florida are positive. Hopefully the test is specific for COVID19, and not just detecting Coronavirus DNA.

I must admit, Florida has great data management!! Kudos.

COVID-19 is not the name of the virus. That is SARS-CoV-2.

SARS-CoV-2 has no DNA. It is a single stranded RNA virus.

There’s an eleven day backlog.

I know this because my wife had her test results today’s. Eleven days after submitted.

I asked the lady on the phone whom called to give us the results why it took eleven days.

Someone here suggested it was because her test was sequenced.

We were told it was due to backlog. Eleven days backlog.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21924179

BINGO!!!!
Also we will see an uptick in new deaths. In many cases it takes up to 20 days from symptoms to die. Most of the country has only seriously been testing for two weeks, if there is a 10 day backlog, well, we are goIng to see many many more numbers. Florida is 100% gonna be one of the new hot spots. I hope I am wrong, I love south beach and the keys and hope to get back there after this is over.

Re: Florida's Curve Begins to Flatten!
No it hasn't flattened. You have 1 day where the numbers are not reported or possibly slightly down. This happened many times over in Italy.

So unless there is a precedence, you are making a projection with no data to back it up other than one day where the numbers are down.

Don't ever get into the stock market, son.

This is the time that I fear the most.

All the Canadian Snowbirds that spent the winter in Florida are coming home now, so that might reduce the number of cases in Florida but the cases in Canada is really going to jump now.

I am in florida and 2 people who never follow news told me they do not feel good. O e has a fever. The other i am not sure because they may be having full blown detox. They drink like Amy Winehouse but are professional and athletic. With that said they are always out. The gym, sport venue, bar, pool, beach, etc.

Our spike statewide isnt due to mid to late april.

FL’s putting out great detailed info; [link to floridadisaster.org (secure)]

Have to say don’t think we’re seeing a flattening in my county & county certainly isn’t expecting it as they announced today they contracted w two hotels to provide quarantine sites for positives w at-risk household members & an overflow treatment center at a college civic center (if needed). Also saw they prioritized truckers & agricultural workers getting available hotel rooms.

Re: Florida's Curve Begins to Flatten!
Just means it lasts longer.

Quarantines and shutdowns last longer.

No advantage since once intubation/ ventilators needed people die whether the staff is overworked or on normal hours.

People still die ventilators or not...people still die whether in the hall or a private room. No real difference except the economy also doesn’t come back with curve flattening because it will continue for months not weeks.

Just wait--- Two cruise ships with sick and dead passengers coming to Florida in the next few days.

Holland America ships that were on South American cruises. Last I heard, 4 dead on one, not sure of the other one.
