MY PHONE WENT TO 1x (1G) FOR 5-6 MINUTES - TWICE!

My rotary phone is rotating LOL

I wondered what 1x was as I see it a lot while hiking.

Shaky internet and now this? If the president tweets we're in the storm then it's all falling into place.

Also, I just read that Verizon (my service) stopped all use of 1G in December of 2019.

I only see 1x when hiking in a nearby state park.

If somebody stole my phone I might miss it by tomorrow or the next day. You must keep an eye on them bars, OP.

It won't even work for texting.

This just happened to me in Chicago! AT&T for our home internet and T-Mobile for our phone internet. Both down at the same time. Now back to normal.

3? I thought I heard ten, but I could have been mistaken. I've heard so many numbers in the past few months, I've got numbers, dates, phrases and information coming out if my ears, haha!

My phone has been doing that for four years. I just restart it and its back to LTE. Probably just got kicked out of priority on the Tower.

AT&T internet sucks. It goes out constantly and has since the dawn of time.

This happens to my phone a lot when I'm not connected to wifi but I'm in a rural area.

Exact same thing just happened for me too. I had the same thought this is odd not like what would be a normal outage. It cut out, no dns, was weird. First thing I thought of was I need to download a shortwave frequency list so I know what to tune to for info when they do flip the switch for real.

Same here.... 4G is greyed out.

I'm very familiar with being out rural, my iPhone (which sucked for reception, by the way) was dropping calls and reverting to 3G almost constantly. My current (Motorola) has NEVER done this. Random events are part of daily life, however I am very attentive to detail throughout the day. I know exact locations/roads around where I live, whereby the service will lose a few bars (but still within 4G, I don't use 5G). My home is not one of those locations.

If I go into a storm shelter, the service will drop down to one bar. If it goes lower, there will be no service. It doesn't revert to 1G, 2G or (in this situation) 3G.

Trust me, this was highly unusual.

We are getting close to the days of darkness :-)

I know it is no longer broadcasted in America by Verizon, I am not sure about any other countries.

They cut the cord on 1x at the beginning of this year (2020).

Maybe India still uses it, I have no idea!
