"It is still too early to assess this crisis geopolitically," says Professor Criekemans. "But I think a number of geopolitical processes that were already underway will be accelerated." By this he refers to the rise of Asia and especially China, and the lack of leadership of the United States.


In the corona crisis, Criekemans also sees a crisis of the current neo-liberal model. According to the professor, the United States has long invested too little in health care, which it mainly wanted to organize privately.

I believe we are in the death throes of a dying and antiquated system and way of life.
Everyone is so scared, not only about catching this virus, but also scared of giving up their way of life.
When you really step back and look at it objectively, why is this a bad thing?
The global financial system is a house of cards just waiting to fall. We have propped it up for decades with lies and smoke and mirrors. through our own greed we were happy to look the other way.
But what has our greed really brought us? Its brought us overpopulation, the destruction of our environment, the destruction of our spirituality. Our greed has left us in a state of fear, anxiety and anger. And if you don't believe it just look at how people are panic buying and hoarding supplies, and toilet paper of all things. Gun and ammunition sales have gone up over 200%, and for what? Fear.
Men in the United States cling to our guns like scared little boys. Sure they talk a big game but when it comes right down to it, they are frightened and scared.
Some even talk and worry of Marshall law. And you need to ask yourself honestly, what would you do if they ever came to your door and asked you to turn over your guns? I'll tell you what you will do, you will hand them over. You won't like it. You won't agree with it, but you will hand them over. Sure there will be a few that fight it but 99.9% of Americans will hand over their guns.
And if that leads to an evolution of society I welcome it. We need to let the old system die, and embrace a new system. A system not based in fear and the acquisition of more and more possessions and unsustainable growth.
I think the human race is at the beginning of an evolution. An evolution into a new system where the acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. A system in which we work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity.
Without a doubt people will be forced into this new way of living, many kicking and screaming because they don't want to give up what they know. But in the end we will all be equal, and better for it.

I don't think it will happen quite that quick, but I think it is going to happen - the downfall of Babylon.

For as much as the Trumpers claim to be "Christians," they seem to have trouble viewing the mote in their own eyes. The "America First" motto is great, if you're living in 1779. But we live in a global economy now, and the cooperation of nations is what has built the wealth we all enjoy. Right now, we could really use a global response, but because we are so caught up in nationalism, and have pissed off so many other nations, no one wants to help us. And sure, we could move manufacturing back to America, in fact, it would probably be a good thing to do that.

But guess what? You think American corporations, the ones that have been so protected and worshipped by conservatives, do you really think they are going to want to pay the wages American workers would require? Why do you think all of those companies moved in the first place? It's easy enough to blame Obama or whoever else you want, but those companies started pulling out as soon as the union movement started flexing its muscle, trying to fight for the American worker. But just like the majority of Trumpers, a lot of people here vilify the unions and blame them. Christ some people are easy to deceive.

No, we have this coming, and while so many of you are claiming high ground, that you're "patriots" and Trump is going to save us, the exact opposite is true. And guess what? When all is said and done, he's just another member of the elite, and he will be sitting back sharing a nice glass of wine on a yacht with Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, Hillary, and the whole crew. Think I'm wrong...?

Yes, because learning is "dumb," and what do professors know, right? I mean, it would have been so much gooder if we could have just stayed in the dark ages.

So, what kind of lifestyle do you have? Living in your Mother's basement? Do you have a lifestyle to lose? Those of us that have worked our asses off for what we have don't want to give it all up to work as third world slaves so that the elite can make more money. We have to fight for humane working conditions. You don't work people 70 or 80 hours a week like machines then toss them aside with no health care when they are used up. Screw you.

I think you totally misread my post, because that's exactly what I am saying - we NEEDED unions to be strong to fight for American workers, but the conservatives have totally vilified them.

And companies moving to other countries to save money is WRONG, it has screwed all of the factory and blue collar workers here.
