Re: Trip to the grocery store today not good
I went to my local Niagara Falls NY wegmans today to grab a few things.
While walking in I saw a group of shopping carts with caution tape around them
Just outside the entrance with signs saying please keep 6’ from each of your fellow shoppers.
I walked in and grabbed and sanitized a cart and asked one of the cart crew what are the outside carts and signs where about
He said starting on April 7 they will be limiting how many people will be allowed in the store at one time. WTF. anyone else seeing this at their local grocery store?

Those are all positive actions. They should be practiced nationally by order of the President. The only things missing are mandatory masks and allocated shopping days. Let's do this right and get it over with ASAP.

Local Costco in New Brunswick Canada. No more than 50 in the warehouse at one time. You can't bring in reusable bags, and you are not allowed to wear gloves anymore. Bring hand sanitizer or wipes.

Cash register staff have a Plexiglas shield between them and the customer. No cash. Debit or credit only.

It's fucked up.

Costco in Calgary AB yesterday--people were lined up outside the store (6 feet apart) and were being let in one by one. Staff with counters at the door. I doubt there were more than 100 people in the warehouse at any one time.

To be honest, it was the best shopping experience I've had at Costco in years.

No crowds, lots of parking, and plenty of TP for all.

Yes, CostCo has been doing this by me for over a week. Although so few people are visiting there that it hasn't been a problem, it's essentially dead compared to normal, but stocked with everything but TP, hand sanitizer, and chlorox wipes.

You realize these measures are temporary right? Makes sense to limit the amount of people in the store at a given time. That includes workers.

Yes, the grocery stores around me have been doing this already. I ran into Big Lots and they were just letting everyone in but luckily there were just a few people out and about.

Re: Trip to the grocery store today not good
Walmart had senior hour yesterday first thing. Guy in a hoodie shuffled past everyone and went straight to the toilet paper and had 10 in his cart. Cashier said one only. He threw back his hoodie (young guy) and went all psycho, where the manager had to come over. He scared a bunch of people, cursing and yelling. Now they don't want to be 21 anymore to sneak into a bar, they want to be 65 to get the toilet paper first. But if they get Corona of course they will get first choice for ventilators, even if they are hood rats, because "young people" are our future.

Re: Trip to the grocery store today not good
I spoke with someone in a wealthy family office yesterday and he said that we will be seeing supply shortages in the next 60 days. He said a couple of things that I found interesting.

1. Before the crisis, 36% of meals were in restaurants and all those people are eating at home now, so that's putting additional load.

2. People are obviously buying more

But the real problems:

3. Many countries are not permitting their food to be exported because they might need it internally.

4. That which is being exported is having problems to disembark, countries are demanding that the ships be completely desanitized before they can unload their cargo.

5. Finally, there's not enough workers on the docks to unload everything and not enough in customs

He said expect big shortages in the next 60 days and inflation of 300% of food prices.

Re: Trip to the grocery store today not good
In addition to common sense sanitation measures I’ve been taking such as removing shoes outside and sanitizing them, removing all clothes immediately, getting a shower right away, wiping down groceries. I make sure to gargle with very warm salt water every single night, making sure not to swallow any, and then rinse my mouth thoroughly with clean water. I also boil some clean water and then with some mild body soap clean about half an inch in my nose (I never ever use tap water for this). I also make sure to blow my nose frequently and then wash or sanitize my hands. The nose and throat is where these pathogens take hold first so these are very important steps.

Also, I sanitize my toothbrush! I soak in hydrogen peroxide and then rinse or soak it in boiling water before each use.

None of this is medical advice just what I’m personally doing.

They taped up the front poles and only left one small space in between to allow customers in one by one.

Just got back from HEB - a Texas grocery chain.

Plexiglass up to protect the checkers, bakery still closed, social distancing tape everywhere, people with masks shopping, frozen veggies about 75% restocked, limited chicken, pork & beef, limits on eggs and butter, no TP & associated paper things, lots of produce, limits on canned goods, no beans/rice, be/wine dept rearranged due to the much lower supply.

People still polite, but this is Texas, and a small town at that.

Re: Trip to the grocery store today not good
It seemed to be getting better last week but this week it is clearly worse. Laundry detergent is being stocked where the disinfectant cleaner is supposed to be. Not only are the TP and paper towels completely empty but so are paper plates and bowls. Canned soup, rice, beans, instant mashed potatoes and a litany of other storable foods are either well picked over or completely gone. Shoot, it's hard to get tortillas unless you know where to look.

And the price of eggs is exploding. Paid $.79/dozen for large eggs at the beginning of the week, now it's $2.17 if you can find them.

Tape on the floor everywhere, plexiglass screens everywhere. The only thing that I haven't seen (yet) is a limit on customers at any one time.

Got thst at the liquor store. I can see why they don't want too many shoppers, but when I was in the liquor store there were just about 3 other customers. Still a ten minute wait to get in. At the grocery there was no wait, but you had to answer the questions about travelling, coughing. More precautions than Canada is seeing at the airports, where there does not seem to be much screening happening.

Walgreen's near me has people line up outside and they are being let in one at a time..One person comes out, one goes in. Line up is roughly 6 ft. apart.
 Quoting: WHEEZY

I’ve alway been weary of going to Walgreens or CVS, those places are typically only visited by people whom are ill, running in to pick up a subscription or day quil/ night quil.
