OP, I believe you. My walmart is empty. I've got a trucker friend and he says his trucker buddies who haul cows to the slaughterhouse haven't been running in two weeks. Meat supplies are gonna dry up in a couple of weeks. Just look at the meat department and see all of the empty shelves. That's because no cows are being processed, nor pigs, nor chickens.

If you folks haven't got a freezer full of meats now and begin to stockpile more, then in a couple of weeks you might not get the chance to purchase any. Toilet paper is like gold. It is coming into the store but if you are not there in the morning then it will be sold out by noon.

If you don't believe me then just go down to your local walmart and look for yourself. It's not rocket science to wonder why the shelves are bare. If the corona virus is keeping folks at home then there are no people in the plants to process the food. Nobody to cut up the cows, package the veggies into cans, or process the paper into paper towels or toilet paper. Plus there just might not be enough truckers able to haul the products.

Think long term, not just what you can buy today. Will the shelves be empty in a couple of weeks or even a couple of months. Think about that scenario now instead of when your belly is growling.
