As part of my job selling firearms (yes, people are still panic buying guns and ammunition), I have to use a common laptop computer that is out amongst the great infected. The customer has to fill out page one of ATF Form 4473, and then I have to input the dealer data on pages two and three. Just about every customer stands about one or two feet away from me while I input the data. I don't really care since I'm immune, but it's still annoying. It's always been annoying.

You’re missing the point. The risk in holding the railing is far worse than potentially tripping down the stairs.

The risk is standing too close to stranger/people is not worth the danger of catching something.
