Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77394259 Never seen anything like this The problem is also shipping.....things are fluid....I would hate to have a shipment hung up in the system if delivery gets frozen....The no contact delivery scares me too....I had 2 1 oz. gold eagles left on my doorstep even tho it was a signature package.... Quick story about SD Bullion if I may. I purchased close to $6000 split between silver and a few gold coins via a debit card. Needless to say, I was nervous as hell, but the customer service rep told me they were self insured and not to worry. Well as my luck would have it, as I was tracking the packages and one (the heavier of the two) was held up at a post office distribution center. A postal service worker thought he hit the jackpot because he nabbed the box clearly marked SD Bullion! The postal inspector had to get involved, and a MAJOR investigation commenced. Long story short, after a few weeks, a duplicate order was sent and I was a happy camper! I also suggested that they change their name from SD Bullion, or SD Lock Company, SD Bearings or similar and they took my advice. SO now anything that you get sent from them will now have a return address with the company name as SD Bearings! AND they use another post office to handle all their transit. Theft went from 5% annually to under 1% so if you're looking for am reputable company to buy from, I highly recommend SD Bullion. Cheers and great thread OP!!! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78548234 United States 04/02/2020 03:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey, OP. I'm in a pawn shop right now, spend every day here and have since 2003. We have sold out of all our coins and we're paying a premium on spot for buys. All our scrap goes to a refining company, and we have a contract with them we have to honor, but people are calling asking to buy scrap and even plated scrap. Typically we dump a couple pounds of scrap every month, we've received basically none in the last two weeks. We're still getting pawns on gold jewelry, but no one is selling. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78571203 I have a friend that needs to sell her silver coin collection due to emergencies (less than a thou prob) no coin shops where she lives out in the country. where should she go to sell -online? thank you |

Problem for the paper dollar is when the people holding them realize they are screwed what makes anybody think that they are going to trust a "new" paper dollar? Answer is they won't. That's when the metals will shine. Paper is a promise to pay, gold and silver are payment in full. As long as people trust paper everything's good. When that trust is lost it's game over. |

Start the auction at $.01 with no reserve, run it for 7 days, and end the auction around 11 pm East Coast time on Wednesday, Thursday, or Sunday evening. Take it from a pro. ;-) |

Most silver is a by-product of mining other metals, such as copper, lead and zinc. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77325395 United States 04/02/2020 05:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Have a buddy has managed pawn shop for 15 years. Gold and silver supply are about gone. All local branches been cleaned out of bullion and coins, silver especially. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78176102 As silver dropped in price over past few years... they never dropped for sale price per oz below $18. All bulk purchases have been $18, now $19... and they are scrambling to get a couple hundred k worth of bars that are not expected to last... After that... the free market may rediscover the price. Then wall st will be forced to cover for the fact their prices as disjointed from reality. Then Gold/silver ratio ‘flattens it’s curve’ and then off to the races. Silver always outpaces gold, but it’s been dead. Golds done Ok. So what happens when silver resets to $19... could it really happen as a rapid kickstart over a few days?!! Probably not... but who knows.. probably not the next few days. I’d estimate several weeks... but I tend to always be a week or two early so buyer beware. If you don’t mind getting your throat ripped out, buy some silver futures contracts. Why did you make Chumlee go to jail when you were all breaking the law? Did you ever ask yourself this? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70966005 You can take that to the bank But, if true, that would mean that current paper money - or a replacement - would have to be severely devalued. So if $1800 cash now buys 1oz gold, then $900 1oz gold would be a 50% devaluation. People holding paper money would feel the 50% reduction in their savings, but those with gold... Gold essentially retains the same value - over time. It has been said before and will be said again, 1 oz. gold will buy you a great 4-piece suit, whether that was 1 oz of gold 100 years ago or 1 oz. today. The value of gold is "the same" - it's the paper money that goes up and down in value. |

Turned out the company that sent it put the wrong address on the parcel, when the postie delivering it looked at the dwelling where he was delivering it to, he knew immediately something was wrong, so he took it back to the depot and it sat on a shelf until I tracked it down. |
