User ID: 78557471 United States 04/03/2020 09:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Went for an online ordered grocery pickup yesterday. I was ordering for myself, my mom who is 97, my next door neighbor who is 81, and a disabled friend (autoimmune disease and host of other issues). Quoting: justavet The store will not do substitutions. I ordered $430 of food and got $307.00. I didn't order any paper products. Among the missing items, Chicken Breasts, Chopped Meat, Gator Aid, Ketchup and BBQ Sauce. Oh, and a free item for Easter (by spending over $400 the previous 5 weeks) which, again, I said any free item and they wouldn't fill it. The store is in extreme NW NJ. I observed all the people who were assembling the order and came to the conclusion I will have to go into the store and shop. This is a Shoprite Store and when this is over, they lost my business because it is a total cluster. The home delivery people know nothing of the website. The website almost crashed on Sunday, and the list goes on how poorly it is ran. Another neighbor went to Walmart of all places for a pickup and got everything except two items, which were both paper products. Yep, people picking the orders are kids who never bought food for themselves, as a result they don't know where anything is. It's only a service if the people tasked with pulling the orders know what they are doing. OU8122 |

Yea they were out of some things but I did not get the feeling of doom. Could be I live in an area that is not NYC level? Not sure but it was certainly not as bad as I heard from our local d00my news channels. Quoting: IFartInYourDirection There were many people wearing masks and gloves. No one seemed to be "prepper" shopping. Looked like normal every cart contents to me. So idk wtf the point of this thread is. Just seems like there is more doom talk than actual doom. Correct. The proof is in the pudding. That doesn’t please those who relish and obsess over “doom”, but then again only one thing pleases them. |

For every roll you buy, one is given to the needy through United Way. We are all needy! I don't know how to participate. I tried to go to their site but a big accept cookies thing came up and blocked the details. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78607611 United States 04/03/2020 09:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Saw something on Facebook where the milk processing plants are limiting processing and they had to dump a full truck of raw milk in Florida. I use Nextdoor Neighbor to locate items through neighbors. It's also useful to locate farm stores or small private grocery stores that have milk and eggs. I also buy an extra 1/2 gallon of organic and/or ultra pasteurized milk that has a month long shelf like and store it in extra refrigerator. Butter lasts a long time, so when you do find it, can buy a limited extra amount. My parents were preppers and used to freeze butter, sometimes milk (need to shake it well after if you do). Margarine lasts a very long time too. Can use vegetable oil and salt to fry eggs. Can use olive oil with salt and pepper to dip bread or toast. Lots of substitutes for butter if you google. Good luck! |

User ID: 78576101 United States 04/03/2020 09:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Went yesterday for a few staples. Saw more masks and gloves than in previous days. Interesting to note the ages. The very young people (18 to mid 20s) no gloves no masks. The very old people (I mean OOOOLD) could give two fucks less either. No gloves no mask. But those between those ages, esp the women, acted like if you got within 10 feet of them they were gonna die right then and there. Could see their complete faces because of masks, but you could tell in their eyes a lot of fear and panic. People are out there living on edge. And such is the unintended consequence of nebulous information. Cause fear then the unknown causes more. Story changing each minute. Its not conducive to us all getting this behind us. Its the people that concern me. Not the virus. I really feel like a lot of people are so on the edge right now and just ready to be pushed over. I pray everyday the trucks keeps running, the stores stay open, and we can all as country look back on this one day and have accomplished something better for us all from it. I believe in American resilience after all. Keeping everyone in my prayers. Hoax or not I really don't care. Whatever the reason. people's main suffering right now is the unknown. So be kind to your neighbors, and strangers. You never know what little ray of hope you might be for someone. "Be Careful When You Follow The Masses... Sometimes the 'M' Is Silent." - TrufSerumX |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78465067 United States 04/03/2020 09:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My roommate went last night for some beer here in central Florida. Said the Wally World had roped off lines with boxes on the floor to stand in 6 feet apart. Said there was almost no meat and the produce was picked over pretty well but otherwise just weird but people were dealing with it fine. We don't buy groceries there, just booze lol. Publix and BJ's are pretty well stocked except for the TP which, for some reason, seems to still be in short supply. |

Only drive thru at all the restaurants around here. I think it is so you won't steal the TP. I heard Charmin was changing their logo from please don't squeeze the Charmin to please don't steal the Charim and please don't hoard the Charmin. |

Schools and colleges are closed, so they're not supplying them with food. Hotels, where once food was used, are closed. Airports aren't closed, but I'm assuming the traffic at airports are at a minimum. Restaurants are closed. Quoting: nutmeg Where is that food? On the supermarket shelves. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77648897 Groton, CT commissary: Limits signage on a few things last week. Haven't checked this week. Good stock. Only actual holders of IDs that are authorized directly to make a purchase through the door. Many, if not most, retirees (like myself) are over 65 and in the high risk group. And I agree - doesn't feel so "panicky," much more relaxed. I've been able to easily find milk (TONS of that now), eggs, canned goods, fresh meat. Honestly, it's been quite a relief the last few times I've gone. |

Everyone seems normal. Sure, some items are out, but they are still stocked up, still baking and prepping food to go...I'm thankful that people are decent here.
