COMET ATLAS impact Saturday 4/11/2020

I apologize for the garbage video; I recorded it on my iPhone X. I’m in southeastern Michigan and started noticing smaller objects - about five or so - around Venus; they weren’t moving, but they were obviously there. I grabbed my phone to record and instead of picking those up, I recorded... what? I have no idea what that is?! It’s Venus, according to my star tracker - and considering that’s where Venus is every night; but that ain’t Venus?!

In this one I tried zooming in-and-out for more context. also, this gives you somewhat of a glimpse at the smaller objects around it; the white flashes appear suddenly throughout.

I know how horrible it is to not be able to see the stars at night; I’m sorry to hear that! I’m thriving being able to see them for the first time in days!

It's been freakin me out for the past 9yrs. Too freakin bright

Venus has been so bright and visible here in western WA since February. Hard to say what's going on, but I'm surprised more people don't mention it. I casually mention it all the time to people that Venus looks so amazing right now every night and they're like, "I haven't noticed". I guess a lot of people never look up at the stars and the celestial bodies!

Just wait until next month and you see Comet ATLAS it will be the biggest brightest thing in the sky.

I saw the same thing in Pittsburgh Pa.

Use your binoculars and see the dinky dipper

I used to go to the beach to watch to stars.

It's about to conjuct with uranus.

Here’s a picture. Alongside or “Venus” is one of the several “white dots” that are also around it that happen to blink brighter periodically.

The seven stars surrounding it, are known as the seven sisters or the seven candlesticks.

It is known as the Pleaides Star Cluster

If you have binoculars and look at it you will see the constellation also known as the dinky dipper.

Just to the left of it you will see a bigger cluster or constellation, known as Taurus the bull

SO BRIGHT! At first, I was actually more interested in the “objects” I noticed that were in close proximity to Venus. Especially considering I just figured it was, in fact, Venus. I grabbed my phone in hopes to zoom in on the smaller objects but upon doing so, well, this is what I saw. No one can tell me what this is! It’s incredible and an absolute mystery!!

I also think it’s just ridiculous how few people seem to be interested in what’s right above us! I could - and often do - spend hours star gazing and I always seem to see unexplainable phenomenon; it’s always absolutely fascinating to look up at space!

Thank you I'm honestly wary of what I might see if I go out tonight.
