My Grandaughter Died last night

As someone who has lost a child, the advice I give you is be there for your daughter.

Ask her, and keep asking her how she is doing, and listen. It takes years and years to even begin processing the feelings and thoughts of what happened.

She wont be herself for a quite a long time. Dont hold that against her. Dont take emotional or irrational outbursts towards you as personal. Some times its easier to lash out at those closests to you.


I will give you a heads up. She will lose lots of her close friends over the period of the next year or so. Many dont know how to handle a friend who has lost a child, and they wont know how to relate .... so they will leave forever.

Please make sure family members stay in touch with her, that they support her, and are there for her.

Go throw yourself off a cliff you insensitive piece of shit.

Mam you are more than welcome to grieve right here right now..

I'm so so sorry it's the most painful thing in the whole wide world to lose a child. I lost my daughter 5 years ago. I know the pain all to well...

Be there for your daughter... she's in tremendous pain and shock.. I'm so sorry.. I'm praying for you and your daughter.

Be there for your daughter. Nobody can tell us how/when/where we should grieve and the biggest barrier is people start to push away from someone dealing with it. They don't mean to be mean. They simply don't know HOW to help so they do nothing.

The shock will wear off as plans are made. There will be some good and bad days or both in the same day. Hold steadfast to the love you have for your daughter and let her know, without any doubt, you are by her side.

Ask her what she needs in the way of support from you and then LISTEN. It will be difficult, but the best gift we can give anyone is to honor their choices without judgment.
