Doc User ID: 77757652 United States 04/05/2020 01:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I grew up in an America that still had TB, malaria, and disentary. Back then the better stores, hotels, and banks had change and cash washing machines. In the better parts of town the coins in your purse were shiney and the bills were probably starched on the mangle. Moma used to dress up and wear fresh white gloves to shop. |

User ID: 78110098 United States 04/05/2020 02:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm in Florida (Tampa Bay Area - Clearwater). I went to my local Walgreens to buy some stuff, and the store seemed well stocked EXCEPT for toilet paper and paper towels, and some medicines and vitamins were out. Otherwise, it seemed normal. Of course, they have tape on the floor 6 feet apart to help us keep our distance while waiting in line. When I paid for my stuff with my debit card, normally the machine offers the option to take some cash out. HOWEVER...this option was not there this time. I asked the cashier what was going on, because I wanted to also get a $20 bill with my transaction. She said that was no longer available. I said, "Since when?" She said, "Just recently." I said, "Is it because of the Coronavirus Scam?" And She said, "They prefer we don't handle money." So I said, "But you do still accept cash? Right?" It seems Walgreens does accept cash for payments, but they would much prefer if we used our cards to make a financial transaction. Remember when all cards were changed to Chip cards not long ago? They told us it was for security reasons. And that made no sense. I think this plan has been in motion for a long time, it is very complex, and we are now in the End Game. They are getting ready to slowly get rid of cash. Their excuse is paper money has the virus on it. Of course this is bullshit! Paper money will not go away immediately. They will slowly make it more and more difficult to use and acquire. They will start to offer debit cards to poor people for free, maybe even that will be the only way to get government money. Everyone will need to start using a Chip card to pay for stuff at major retailers. Slowly, cash will be pulled out of society. Last Edited by ThirstyMarlin! on 04/05/2020 02:53 AM Marlin! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77594690 France 04/05/2020 02:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some places in the Netherlands have been forcing customers to go cashless for years. First noticed that in Amsterdam around 2014. Not only that, but it's not posted anywhere. Not even in Dutch! So you're just expected to know. Happened to me multiple times. And they get angry if you say anything. Best part: it's illegal in the EU! At least technically on paper. But you'd have to raise hell to get anything done about it. Of course now it's too late with the epidemic. So yeah we go contactless or cards, then power or network goes down. Can't process payments! So we go cash only. Cash fomites spread viruses so cash has to be disinfected and handled with gloves. So we go back to copper, silver, gold like every generation before the last pandemic. Viruses don't live very long on those surfaces. But those metals are worthless, so ... |
