User ID: 78686148 United States 04/05/2020 11:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Of course right now most trades are still rolling, contracts were signed months ago for the work still in progress. It is always a trickle down effect that is the death nail for construction, remember the housing bubble crash. Quoting: MadJack That took up to 2 years to filter down especially into the commercial/industrial sector where I am. Residential will be the first hit and it's going to be a bloodbath, for one housing is overvalued right now at least 25%. I expect new home construction to stop dead in it's tracks, I also expect existing home prices to drop 30-45%. THIS! I work for a retailer in Texas who sells products for residential home construction. My company has already laid off 2 dozen people, cut hours and cut pay across the board, ALL in anticipation of what's coming. Ironically our sales numbers are not down very much at the moment, however, builders who are in the middle of a project will not just stop...they will finish their current homes and try to sell them. We buy lots of doors from the two major door manufacturers in the U.S. and the lead time has gone from 1 week to 4 weeks with one, and the other is now only allowing us to purchase 50% of what we used to purchase due to their own employee shortages in the factories. This will be a HUGE problem for us in about 30 days when we run through most of our current stock. What the future holds for our business will be much more clear in about 60 days. |

The past couple weeks for example i have barely gotten part time hours. For Monday i only have one delivery. Should be getting 60+ hours or more in week. No ones ordering sod, the deliveries ive been doing are for like parks and common areas, retention ponds that were probably paid for last year. I did 2 deliveries last week for a couple small landscapers, wasnt much, but they said they are hurting bad right now. One guy told me he cant get his workers flown in here from Mexico, i told em to goto home depot round some up, he didnt find it amusing. LoL. Just passing thru. OG id 126286 NasTraDooMis |

We did three cabinet final measures for 3 new construction homes yesterday. So these are about to be ordered. Tomorrow I have an initial measure for a remodel. I'll show up with a mask and gloves. We're still signing contracts. The leads have slowed down and everyone is working from home but everyone is still working. I'm the only one at the company allowed overtime. One of our tile installers is in quarantine right now. We had to call a homeowner and explain that he was just in her house and may be positive. Most subs are still working. Scheduling has been a challenge with slight delays but we're still moving forward. We have over 60 active jobs at the moment. My primary duty is to design / draw plans and build estimates. I understand if the building is 1,2,3 months away from a turn over but a 40 story condo with forms on the 23rd floor still pouring concrete is a joke to be open but the reason it is open is they need our tax money for this shit storm.
