Severe Acute Respiratory Viruses represent an acute strain of coronavirus that have only been around since 2002. Both SARS and MERS were the only two outbreaks of severe strains of coronavirus but were easily contained and subdued well before outbreaking to anything near pandemic levels. There was never a need to go through the rigors and expenses, or would there ever have been a market, for creating a vaccine for something that was put under control. As for the standard coronaviruses that have existed throughout modern human history (since vaccinations became effective and viable), there were only 4 or 5 strains that produced extremely mild cold symptoms. Of course, anyone should know that a vaccine for something uncommon and mild wouldve have never been produced.

COVID-19, on the other hand, is a brand new derivative of SARS and has affected the entire world at pandemic levels, hence the massive market need to produce a vaccine.

Whenever China tried to make vaccines for SARS someof them worked, but it made them susceptible to the regular common colds out there in some cases killing them. The word for it is heterologous reactivity.

If they have a vaccine or shot to fix it would probably be something that interfered with the viruses qorum sensing or replication. Aka not a true vaccine really, a treatment.

Do you know why? There hasn't been any funding for such a thing.

1) Common coronaviruses that cause mild colds: no funding for vaccines because they are considered minor annoyances and not worth the large investment.

2) SARS: until 2003, coronaviruses were not something people studied much as they were considered boring and of little value. When SARS popped up, everyone began studying them. Efforts began to work on a vaccine for SARS, but the effort died off as SARS was effectively contained and disappeared from circulation.

3) MERS: Limited spread and very difficult to transmit from human to human. Despite the high mortality rate, it was not deemed large enough threat to devote significant funding towards developing a vaccine.

4) SARS2: Here we are. We finally have a coronavirus that has shut down much of the world's economy and has not been contained. There is now, for the first time, significant motive to throw massive amounts of funding behind a vaccine as it seems a vaccine is the only way to go back to normal. For the first time ever, we will have a coronavirus vaccine because we finally have a reason for massive funding dollars to work towards it.

The reason Bill Gates is touting his vaccine, is because it is not a single vaccine that they are working on, but utilizing a brand new platform for developing vaccines that could be used to very easily develop new vaccines for other viruses and variants. We've be using horse drawn carriages metaphorically speaking for past vaccine development and Bill Gates' team has a Ferrari platform. It's going to change the way we develop new vaccines in the future if this pans out. So his excitement is warranted.

There is no real cure, but you can disrupt viruses. I've bought a shit ton of antivirals, tamiflu and others (I've been buying them ever since a virologist showed me way before all this). Every time I feel I'm getting sick, I just take this stuff and I'm super again in the next day or so.

It's not a cure, no, but holy shit does it work. The only bad thing about it he told me, it disrupts good viruses too (the ones that go after bacteria). Why do you think India is doing so well? They sell this shit over the counter in the crappiest stores there and they got tons of it ever since SARS.

The problem now days is that they are blurring the line between what is a "vaccine" and what is not: they are now working on "active" gene/cell/DNA "vaccines" where cells/genes/DNA in your body will be changed (supposedly into something more resistant) from a natural or biolab'd gene,stem cells/Dna experiment.

But, just like GMO foods, no matter how "safe" they say it is/will be, it would take at least a reproductive generation to really understand the actual impact to humans (good/bad). Just assume bad and you are better off.
