As an American who is not really into the Royal family - reading your words is like a punch in the gut. Love her or not, she has been a sort of permanent figurehead for all of our lives - she - is connected in a time space way, to almost all of us going back generations now. My grandparents watched this queen, my parents watched this queen. And since I am older now all of these people are gone, she is like a connective tissue to them - "that we will meet again"
