An unexpected consequence of being confined under stay-at-home mandates is that we do a lot more of something we don't normally have the time in our busy lives to do ... think. We do so with more resolve and clarity. We study; we research; we postulate.

Most of us GLP aficionados come here for news headlines, insightful commentary, and esoteric discussions. Moreover, we occasionally enjoy our engaged perusals with a scrumptious plate of savory doom.

Sometimes, it's served with a full highball glass of refined fear. Some merely sip this intoxicating ale while others quaff the tasty beverage with vigor.

Lately, here just like in the analog world, we're being served a plentiful buffet of fresh doom and a variety of tempting aromatic fears to wash it down.

Back in my early days on GLP, I engaged in occasional role-playing fun with different monikers. Years ago this was a much more common practice on the site than it is today.

Those who've been here a long time might recognize one or two of my old sobriquets. But, most of those lengthy threads drifted eventually into the digital waste bin.

In 2014, I created this current moniker ... which is me with an element of anonymity. About a year later, a well-known member contacted me revealing that he had discerned my prior monikers from my diction, humor, and writing style. We became friends. He had also uncovered a little about me in the real world.

I was rattled. But, he vowed to honor my confidentiality. He has since passed away from cancer. I still miss his humor and his focus. NODOOM would be obliged to put our current events in his Hall of Success.

Recently, I embarked on an old role-playing exercise ... to test my creativity. It was on a thread asking how we got to GLP. For your entertainment in these Days of Despair, allow me to present it here...

You lost me at the hydroxychloroquine, although the azithromycin is showing some promise in feline victims, which is odd as it is bacteriostatic, not virocidal but it is typically used for respiratory [bacterial] infections. Perhaps opportunistic bacterial pneumonias? (Remember how we stocked up on Cipro in the old days - and now everyone likes their achilles tendons to stay intact)

I have read one description of how the hydroxychlorquine works from a pathophysiological viewpoint, but the author was essentially anonymous and while some of their presumptions were impressive, others did not follow. I have yet to see any peer reviewed literature.

I do know how to 'follow the money' and that may have lent to my skepticism.

anyhoo, cheers and all. good thread, glad to see a familiar 'face'.

Re: The Breakfast of GLP Champions: Musings of an Old-timer
A Few Questions For Your Consideration

GENERAL

What do you think the next few weeks have in store for us?

How long do you think it will be before we get back to "normal"? Will we get back to "normal"?

Will primary and general election voting be conducted in a fair and verifiable manner, if the lockdowns persist that long?

How do we transition effectively out of these nationwide lockdowns?

ECONOMIC

What do you think will happen as a result many of America's recently unemployed receiving more funds in unemployment insurance to stay at home than they made while producing and/or serving?

Will they want to return to work for less money?

Will prices in the few open stores increase sharply?

Will injecting 2.2+ trillion into the economy along with myriad crushing closures and the ensuing multifarious repercussions eventually lead to hyper-inflation?

HEALTHCARE

Why isn't there a national concerted effort to use hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin? Why wait a full year for FDA approval of a vaccine when we can heal 90+% of the infected right now?

Why are so many hospitals nearly empty? Is the hospital business model really primarily just elective procedures? Why is ANYONE in the healthcare fields being furloughed?

Why are so many deaths with comorbidities (cancer, heart disease, etc.) only publicized and used for statistical data as caused by Covid-19?

Why aren't the mainstream media and government healthcare officials vigorously alerting the public to strengthen their immune systems with D3, vitamin C, turmeric, and zinc?

STRANGENESS

Why are most beaches closed while public walkways are still open?

Massive civil unrest protests began in Hong Kong in March 2019. By July, similar large protests began in mainland China in Wuhan. Is it just coincidence that this virus began there?

The Wuhan Institute of Virology has long been strongly suspected to be a center for bio-weapons research and development. Is it just coincidence that this virus began near there?

On October 18, Johns Hopkins in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation held a "pandemic tabletop exercise" to discuss a fictional coronavirus outbreak and how it would impact healthcare, economies, and society. The first case of the virus was recently determined to have been detected on November 17th, exactly 30 days later. Is this just a coincidence?

Since political campaign rallies have ended due to health concerns, will anyone remember in November that Biden consistently struggled get a few hundred attendants while Trump's rallies readily drew in many thousands?

Why are many convicted criminals being released early from jails and prisons? Isn't the likely increase in crime to our communities a higher risk to the general public than their own health risks in a highly controlled incarceration environment? Who is monitoring to determine if any violent recidivists are released early under these "compassionate" considerations.

What precautions are being taken by restaurants to ensure that their kitchen staff practices social distancing in confined spaces? Who is making certain that no infected staff are preparing food? Who is monitoring these necessary health standards?

This season CDC estimates that, as of mid-March, between 29,000 and 59,000 have died due to influenza illnesses. It's about the same every year. Why haven't we ever implemented national lockdowns for that seasonal scourge?

Who benefits from the sundry ramifications of our government's actions and reactions regarding this pandemic? China? Bill Gates? Democrats? Republicans? America? Others?

I can't imagine anyone would want to work for less, unfortunately the increased unemployment will end in July. It will be interesting to see if there are any jobs to return to.

Yes, at some point, hyperinflation may occur. I've already noticed a few things getting more costly.

Just hear me out.. We are told that China holds the loans for the USA to the tune of some 20+trillion.

This crippling of our economy and the world's economy was brought about directly from China, via a deadly disease that was either intentionally released, was a normal occurrence from nature or something similar.

Now, THEY own this economic downturn period. Perhaps the world will tell the Chinese to wipe the books, reset and lets start anew...

Usury be damned.

I recall speculating as a child of the 70's "What if Orwell's story-line were to actually unfold? How would we transition from here to there?"

A few years later, when I read about the Georgia Guidestones, I contemplated the possibility and probability of a power-obsessed cabal actually orchestrating global population control and how that might be brought into fruition.

By the nineties, I could see that we were, in fact, heading in that direction as a society, despite advances in commonly accessible technologies. But, my normalcy bias was still mostly in tact.

A few years later, we had edged close enough that I could now smell it. But, I struggled diligently to retain optimism while still fatuously grasping the tattered remnants of my normalcy bias.

Today, it is readily apparent that our society is devolving at an ever-accelerating pace and our technology is being used against us with unquestioned impunity. It seems as though I can now simply reach out and touch it. Hell, it's touching me. It's touching all of us.

Doom is upon us. And, the self-serving Faustian thieves of liberty believe they have defeated us.
