Maine: Mandatory quarantine for anyone entering state

Yeah I saw this in the news last week.

She said (Maine Gov) that in order to observe the 14-day quarantine, certain exceptions may be made. On the NPR interview I heard with her, she intimated that obviously people will not be forced to live in a tent, or in their car.

So... at least they are allowing for logic, which is good!

I am a Mainer. A lot of xenophobic people here. Shutting down our hotels and doing a mandatory 14 day quarantine guarantees tourists stay away, but out of state homeowners can quarantine at their personal properties.

Quick question: Do Mainers consider Vermonters and New Hampshirites, 'flat-landas'?

Curious minds wish to know

I've never heard people called either. Now, people from Mass, a whole different story. Lots of names for them.

I was an army brat from day one, but ended up here in my adult life. My family are all life long Mainers. My grandfather was a Korean War vet turned lobster-man. He was the embodiment of a Mainer is my mind.

It's really only Lewiston/Auburn and Portland where there are high concentrations. It has been bad. People oppose it. Not talking shit about MA, was making a joke about the stereotype. I've lived all over the world and I have no desire to live anywhere else.

Maine winters can be brutal. Glad you made it out ok. You won't catch me in Lewiston, ever. I live in a small town on the coast. We have <10 cases of covid in our county right now and people are more than happy to oblige with social distancing. I would miss my favorite Pho place in Portland if they got wiped out though.

I have a pretty good intel network I've built through various social media platforms of my area. Nothing is really happening medical emergency wise. People are just pissed off about all the extra precautions we have to take. My mother in law oversees quite a few kitchens for long term care facilities owned by a big corporation. No outbreaks being hidden afaik.

How about truck drivers? Interstate in and out types?

They would have to stop them too??

They are letting the inmates out, can't have it both ways.
