Who is behind Zoom and why now?

It’s because Zoom is for enterprise businesses. It’s kind of a phenomenon that it is landing on regular folks apps. That being said it works better than CISCO WebEx and Gotomeeting. In the old days a video conference room would need a server and codec streaming platform to do multi bridge video conference calls and it was super pricey. Zoom kind of simplified all of this and was reliable. I cannot tell you how hard it is for lost businesses to just get a simple conference call going. Business guys are not as smart as us web geeks. It takes on most other platforms 10 to 15 minutes for everyone to just join the stupid meeting.

This exact app has existed for decades in the form of yahoo chat, messengers, Skype, what’s app, google hangouts, etc. Where did this app come from that it just skyrocketed into takeover mode and is being treated by everyone from governments to elementary schools, like it’s the only app available for video conferencing.

Something just doesn’t sit right with me about this app. Anyone else feeling suspect about it?

Didn't Zoom recently have a data breach where all the recordings were saved to an unsecured location that could be easily accessed by anyone with a little effort.

They just patched it... now you need a password to enter the rooms. Before they were open for convenience. Then hackers started targeting them.
