Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77125760 Whatever happened when you went down to South America a few years back to do some photography? Did you ever make it down there? If you did I must have missed the Thread you made from that adventure. Glad to see you back home. I went to South Africa, not South America. I had a great time. Saw stars have never seen before, saw the magellanic clouds, saw alpha centauri, and went on safari. Ironically the best photograph I've ever taken ended up being a leopard. He stared right up at me right as I clicked the shutter. It was a perfect moment that I don't think I'll ever top. :safari8b: Beautiful!! That’s a once in a lifetime moment there Why is it photoshopped? Look at that paw and the edges of it compared to the ground........... You're a fucking idiot. Great pic,Astro. Thanks for sharing. |

You sure are a smart man, way smarter than I could fathom in myself. Quick question, can you give me a ballpark figure of the cost of the equipment you are using tonight? Thank you for sharing with all of us. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78133221 Thank you for sharing with all of us. Retail price is north of $8,000. on the used market it can be had for significantly cheaper than that though. Probably less than $2,500. |

This is probably a fragment of a larger comet and this may well be the fragment's first approach to the sun on its own. The orbit is extremely similar, almost identical, to the great comet of 1844. If it had survived this encounter the final orbit on its way out would have already started diverging from the great comet of 1844 due to differences in the positions of the planets between then and now. This suggests to me that it's a fairly recent fragment and may have been part of a larger singular comet until one orbit prior to 1844. See the end of this video for the full breakdown: |

User ID: 46776824 United States 04/08/2020 01:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yea i know he said "no this will not threaten earth" but correct me if im wrong doesnt that mean that there will be little pieces flying off chaotically in different trajectories? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76233172 i mean comon man how is that not a threat? hopefully im wrong but i wont be surprised if we have another similiar russian Chelyabinsk meteor event If we do it won't be from this comet. It does not intersect Earth's orbit, it's not even close. Space is huge and this comet is flying fast. The velocity imparted during the breakup is not even going to be close to what it would take to send any debris to Earth. I will do another video following this up and going into detail on that using a simulator and the orbit that I've calculated from all of these observations. You’re the best. Thank you for all of the insight you give us brother. Much appreciated! “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
