Slayer was last and got booed because thier set was way too short. "You're gonna miss Christianity when it's gone". What's funny is that they were dressed like they were going to a church meeting, long sleeves and all. By the end of the show they were all drenched in sweat and totally exhausted. It was amazing. |

He was so stoned out of his mind, he attempted to start a song 4 times until he said f-it and flipped us off and he security walked him off stage. Quoting: Lupe_Ate_My_Taco's After about 5 minutes Motley-Crue took the stage and jammed hard non-stop for hours and that absolutely kicked ass. I had never even heard of them until that night. hahaha that sounds about right for Ozzy I was living in Miami at the time, I went to most of the shows of the bands I liked at the Hollywood Sportatorium around 1980-1982, saw Van Halen where David Lee Roth lit a joint on stage, Rush a couple of times, ZZ Top a couple of times, Journey, BOC and Foghat, others Ozzy played at Sunrise Musical Theatre for his Blizzard of Oz tour. I was told about a new band that was kickass by a friend who would get me tickets, always close to the stage. So she got me tickets to Ozzy and this new band Def Leppard that warmed up for him. They kicked ass so hugely that when Ozzy came on he tried to play louder than Def Leppard. It was literally deafening and hurt our ears, my friends and I had to leave. Other people were leaving, too. Not sure if it was because they were there for DL only or ear pain. But Sunrise was much smaller than the Sportatorium, so it was obvious that people were leaving and that must have burned Ozzy bad. I saw Pink Floyd in Orlando, my favorite band, but it was an outdoor concert and it rained, it was not a fun experience in my older age I would like to see The Moody Blues or Pink Floyd again but I wouldn’t go to AC/DC again, lol Forgive your enemies, it messes with their heads. Thoughts create, mind them well. |

Hotter than fucking hell, probably over 100 degrees inside the Silverdome. Being on the main floor we got cooled down with water sprayed from firehoses. Eddie Money (RIP) was stellar and The Clash got boo'ed. Fucking Michiganders. The Who played for close to 3 hours. Townsend, after swearing he was done doing the Windmill because he was always ripping off fingernails, actually did it and the crowd went nuts. and Lollapalooza Sunday, August 4th, 1991 Pine Knob Amphitheatre, Clarkston, MI Jane's Addiction, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Living Colour, Nine Inch Nails, Ice-T & Body Count, Butthole Surfers, Rollins Band The very first Lollapalooza tour. Somewhere in the middle of Jane's, I think during Mountain Song, people in the lawn started huge lighting trash fires. By the end of Jane's set there must have been a dozen fires spread across the entire bowl shaped lawn each with 20-50 half naked swirling, dancing and writing bodies around the fires. It was a jaw dropping sight to behold. Especially if on hallucinogenics, as many were. The Doors film had come out in the winter of 1991 and I think the film's recreation of the "Not To Touch The Earth - Shaman Ritual" was the inspiration for the fire madness. Too bad, in today's world Youtube would be packed with cell phone footage. And there is no-fucking-way in hell that could happen today. They would pull the plug on the show immediately. |
